Are there any instructions/pics of a rear speaker install? I'm sitting on a set of Infinity 652's, but haven't installed them because some people said it's not worth the effort without an amp.
If the install isn't too difficult, I might just dive into it and see if it makes any difference.
In some aspects they are right, there is a slight improvement, but not as good as you might expect.
However the Infinity's should bolt right up, and use the following positive/negative for a hook up.
Brown (+) on drivers side, and Dark Blue (+) a on passenger side rear.
I went to the local hardware store for the correct connectors and used the clip at the top of the speaker connector for the signal. When you get the speaker out you will understand. There is a second clip, when pulled out exposes the top portion of each speaker wire.
Getting the speakers out can be a hassle, but doable without removing the trim. You have to be willing to stretch the trim a bit to get a screwdriver in square enough to unscrew it. Again, when you get the speaker cover off and start unscrewing the old speakers, it will become obvious.
:withstupid: Hes right its a piece of cake. I have the same speakers, they sound good, but u might be right about the amp, it does seem like mine need a little more power. But thats not a problem for me anymore b/c im gettin a sub!lol
That is a good question. I know that in the FRC and z06 you need to remove the B pillar interior trim (not hard) In the coupe I have heard that you can just remove the speaker grille and pop it back on, but I'm not so sure about that. If it were me, I'd remove the whole trim piece. There are a couple of plastic pins at the top, and you need to pull out the upper shoulder belt mounting bolt. The panel itself is just held in with clips. Slide you fingers under the trim and pull straigh toward you. Just be careful so not to break any of the clips.
There is no need to remove the trim. Pop the speaker cover off, and you can stretch the plastic ever so slightly using a screwdriver to get at the screw that is slightly buried. I have done it 4 times with no problem. Just don't over stretch it.
