I'm thinking about putting a subwoofer somewhere in the back of my 1971 Corvette Convertible. I don't want to have to modify the car itself much at all as everything is all original on it, but it is a convertible so there is limited space when the top is down. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I might go about doing this. Thanks for the help.
I'm in the process of building an enclosure for two 10" subs. The pics don't show it 100% complete, but you get the idea. This will fit behind the seats and not interfere with the folded top. The first pic should show the position.
in the C3 section, I posted a link to a thread in this section, where there's an infinity basslink for sale. that would be the easiest thing to go with, and not have to do any modifications, it won't take up to much room, and if you need that space back, just unplug it and take it out.
or...
if you search the archives for posts by pyjama sam(can't remember if it's one word or two) he built an enclosure into one of his storage compartments to house an 8" sub, but with that you'd also have to mount an amp somewhere(usually back wall). but it's also a good way to not take up so much room.
When I had my '70 Vert, I put in 3 JL 8" W6's. I don't have any pics, but the box was a single rectangular with separate sealed chambers for each sub. The box was small enough that it fit all the way in the back of the storage area with room left for the top. I mounted the amps on the sides of the storage area to clear the top hardware when folded down.
