Its very, very, very loud, and nice.
My EQ settings were 400-4 1k -3 4k -3
Well, i'm listening to music and realised its missing some detail. So I set DEFEAT to on. (Defeat turns the EQ off basically.) and noticed a dramatic reduction in bass.
I turned defeat OFF, and it was still quiet.
Example, Korn Ya'll Wanna single? has a nice BOOM BOOM BOOM at the start of the track. Well, it sounded MUCH quieter and.... different.
Almost as if I'd accidentally turned the gains down 40% or so, then set the lowpass at 50hz.
The alpine's xover was still 80hz 24db. I set it to OFF, and it still played at the same volume, and I cuold hear 'more' coming out of the sub. So its not the xover.
I pulled each RCA cable... both were hot. (I've had one RCA cable break on me before.)
I tested the sub with a multimeter... continuity ok all around. Visually, it looks perfect.
I zero'd the gains on my amp, and set them again, 1:1....
Eq settings you posted should have nothing to do with your sub. But why do you have them drop so much? That is alot attenuation across the board.
Odd problem with the sub. Hard to except...why are the RCA cables hot? I have never ever had a hot RCA cable. That is where I would start. I would run a new set of RCA from source to amp above the carpet and try it.
OH sorry, by hot, i mean they both had a signal through them and weren't dead.
My system has some MASSIVE spikes at those levels. I could actually bring 1k down even more, and it wouldn't be in line with the the rest of the system.
That "defeat" mode really messes things up. Check to make sure that your sub level is back to where is it suppose to be, that your sub setting is turned to "on" and "mono" and the sub is in phase.

Those are the first things I checked. I think I'm going to disconnect hte battery for a while tonight and just start from scratch on the Alpine.
That is a strange problem Kale. Have you been able to measure actually db's or use an RTA to see what the subs are doing. Almost seems like one is blown or you have problem with electronics. Have you tried to use your front or rear RCA cable to feed the sub instead of the sub output? I am guessing that you are using the sub out.
