Default New Franklin Mint 1/12 1967 L88 Roadster

In case you have not heard...Franklin Mint just released a 1/12 scale diecast of a '67 Corvette L88 Roadster, red with black interior/stinger. It's called the Connoisseur's Edition and has the following features: real leather seats; fiberglass body; removable wheels w/brake detail; separate hard top; rotating drive shaft; windows crank up and down; opening ashtray, glove box and gas flap; working headlights, high beams, brake lights, reverse light; working horn and engine sound of the L88. Each model is sequentially numbered but they don't say how many they will make. Price is $495.00 plus S&H.

Wow!

I just received my correspondence from The Mint yesterday. The model looks pretty nice, but I am still debating the cost. At least it is a larger scale than the C12 they are trying to sell for $500. I guess I will have to a take a trip to my local Mint store to get a sneek peak to see if I should add it to my collection.

I am just about done with the collection of Corvette Ingot by the Mint, so I was really ready to take a break from them and then they come out with this

Can anyone post some pics? I couldn't find anything on their webpage. I love the large scale models, but $500 is a lot of money.

I got the flyer in the mail! Man I hate it when they do that! I'm getting it! That's why they have the "easy payment plan" !  :D
My next problem is going to be where to display it.

I checked it out on Ebay and it is prette awesome. I don't know why it's not on their web site though. For $500, it should at least spin the tires,  :smash:  I'm wondering myself if it's worth that kind of price.

Everybody on this forum knows how "Anti Mint" I am.. But this is one time
I will make an exception to the rule. How can they screw up a 1:12th car?

But before I drop 5 bills on this car I want to see it, I am not going to spend
$500.00 on a pig in a poke (Like the 24th Callaway C12)

Anyone have pics? I can not find this car on Ebay and it is NOT on thier web
site!

Well I went ahead and ordered it :) Ya just gotta have it ya know..

$500.00 is cheap for a model of this caliber, well at least from the
list of features I have read about.. If it was exoto it'd be a grand
easy... So it should be here by the middle of next week and I will
do a short review with some pictures of all the details. :)

And only "5 easy payments of $100.00"

My friend Randy bought his yesterday at the Franklin Mint store at the local mall. they had 2 in stock. $495 is pretty stiff but this is the best model I ever saw. Windows go up & down when you crank the handle! Headlites flip up (by hand) & lite up
And the conv deck lid even opens but the soft top doesnt come up. At the mall the proprieter let us work all the features and let us take all the time we wanted with it.

67Coupe - Goodwood Green
71 Conv - Maaco White
Cat D8 Bulldozer - Olive Drab

Let me know what you think of it....when you receive it. :D

Zora,

You know I will! I still need to get some pictures snapped of my new (not
yet completed) "Corvette Room" the 68 is parked in there and most of the
cases are mounted/painted and filled with cars :)

Hey I am also getting Anjole Seeling's Action Bike and the Sunoco bike too!
(Guy is selling me both for $60.00 each) and I know that's like WAY cheap!

Don't those bikes retail for $200.00 ? I just bought a bunch of Action stuff
in the past week and I got it all for a song.. 2 brand new TF Funny Cars for
$30.00 each (they sell for $60.00 +) a brand new Action TF Rail for $30.00
Jeff Gordon's Special Paint Pepsi car (Revell) $20.00 (Sells for close to $80.00)

And Dale Earnhardt's Oreo car! damn and now this FM car and I also bout
some Ertl's too... When does this ever stop :)

I was at the Mall of America today and saw this model on display at the Franklin mint store,I just gotta say that thing is un-freakin-believable, I mean perfecr from front to back and top to bottom, If you can justify that money for a model more power to you I wish I could but I need a house first.

I just got mine yesterday! This car is unbelievable. I only have one complaint. They ship it with a nice wood base, but no plastic cover to put over it. For that price, you think they would include a dust cover. Glad that I got it. The lights work, (you actually turn them on with the actual location light switch) and the instrument cluster lights up to display the fantastic detail, and the high beams go on if you hit the switch a second time, the horn works, (center horn pad on the steering wheel), it makes a start engine sound (hit the key hanging from the dash), hand brake moves, shifter moves, pedals move, can remove the air cleaner to reveal the carb, wheels come off to reveal the brakes, suspention works, driveshaft and half shafts turn gas filler cap opens, glove box opens, ash tray cover slides. I think that is about it.

I Love it! :yesnod:
