Okay if i am now considering the LS9, what other twin disk clutches for under $1500 offer good driveability. I think they all will easily hold the power I am looking to put down, if i am going to step it up to twin disk....
WHATS THE BEST FOR $1500 and below, besides the LS9 which is a very good clutch i have gathered.

Worked with Mike and have the full LS9 clutch on the way. Only rave reviews about this thing and will have no problem holding my power and serve my dual purposes well. Thanks Mike for the help and ill review it once i get my car back probably in a month.

For road racing there is no btter clutch then the LS9x. The 8.5 pound reduction in rotating mass makes the car rev quicker and also de-celerate quicker. It is a win-win for all applications.
I highly recommend the aluminum version because of that reduction in weight. Many of the other versions of the LS9 use a heavy steel flywheel and in some instances, it actually weighs more then the stock setup. The other advantage not available in other versions is the ability of replacing the steel insert on the flywheel for $59. The replacement pressure plate is also available for less then $500 when it wears out.
I offer the Katech LS9x shipped to your door for $1,425. That includes everything (Katech alum flywheel, ZR1 pressure plate/discs, ZR1 slave and throw out bearing, all pressure plate and flywheel bolts, pilot bearing, exhaust gaskets, bottle of Dot 4 fluid)

Probably got a similar thing from Mike Yeager. The clutch should be a solid choice for what i hear ill have just over 500rwhp.
Went all out on the build for my LS2. Got the FAST102, NW102 and a new Halltech intake to match.
Many things have shipped and i think the shortblock is close to shipping out early next week. Can't wait.

does that zr1 twin disk clutch just bolt in to the c6z06? I was told to get a new throw out bearing with this setup, yes or no? is the alum flywheel readily available for this zr1 clutch. I primarily do HPDE advanced grp. road courses 2x/month w/ 500rwhp z. thanks guys

Another option that we have just released is an 11" Carbon/Organic it will easily hold 525rwhp and with it's full face disc will have a smoother engagement than a 6-puck disc. This clutch coupled with our lightweight billet flywheel would be great for road racing as it weighs just 42lbs and would make rev matching when heel/toe downshifting easier. Give me a call at 817-750-2000 if you have any questions, Chris

Found this thread through a search.
I'm wondering if the ls7 or ls9 clutch with lw flywheel is still considered the best set up for a c5z that does hpde often. I'm stock power wise, but do not see myself going more than cam, headers, exhaust, and heads in the future.
If there's a better clutch setup, please advise.

I'm probably the only one who will say this, but I have had great luck with the LS7 clutch. It is reasonably priced and performs well. (480 whp) I also use a Findanza lightweight flywheel.
I wouldn't use it for drag racing, but for road racing I find that it satisfies my needs. On the other hand, I do my best not to abuse it or my tranny.
Your results may vary...

The Monster LT1-S Street twin is the best setup. Far more robust, lower MOI, and holds a lot more power, and abuse.

I went with the light flywheel which exposed an existing idle issue in the tune but a fellow forum member did a few tweaks which fixed that. My car is an LS3 conversion (in C5) with mild cam and long tube headers.
The old clutch was an LS7 which was having the stuck pedal any time I tried to do a shift at RPM's above 5000. That clutch is cheap but very heavy.

Monster LT-1S - Just make sure you balance it. Petal is as light or lighter than stock and engages just like stock. LOVE this clutch.
Oh yea, and its smaller and lighter so has a much better MOI

For HPDE and road course work go with the lightest stock clutch you can and have it balanced. You start getting into unsprung, hard grabbing clutches and you'll be buying tranny parts.
These guys are all trying to sell you something you don't need...but that's their job
