ZR1 \ Z06 spoiler aerodynamics - what I don't understand
There are several ZR1 style lip spoilers available on a market:
OEM ZR1:
Callaway:
Katech:
Some vendor data on them:
Data shows that while Katech is almost twice higher and have high middle part it add no signigicant downforce comparing to Callaway. Katech middle part is not working as good as sides, I know, but it must add something to downforce... And ZR1 spoiler which is 0.7" lower is practically useless according to data... How could it be?
I'm looking for cheap practical solution to decrease car jumps from track springboards and increase fast corners speeds. There are full wing solutions on a market like APR GTC500, or even GT2 style wings. But they require huge front downforce with long and wide splitters which are not practical at all. Otherwise downforce balance will be moved to the back of a car and car will have sighnificant understeer as I understand. GTC500 downforce at 180 mph is nearly 762 lbs!
Do anybody have practical knowledge about spoiler downforce numbers?

Because unless your lap times are sub 2:15, for those sraight line speeds, something is seriously wrong.

I much more comfortable doing the 150-155 range and braking sooner than too deep.

Aero is a tricky thing. Balance is most important. Adding the Katech spoiler (which I have) w/o something to balance it in the front will likely result in worse handling than you have now. I added their splitter and skirts w/o the spoiler. Result was not good.

What kind of wing angle does that chart show for the GTC500??? If wing is legal for your application, you can run it with Zero angle and still get more downforce and less drag than a spoiler.
any info on the Ron Fellows spoiler??? It's pretty short, but has the taller center!

Ron Fellows spoiler will produce less downforce then Callaway I guess as it's big central part is in trunk aerodynamic shadow.

Something to think about here......
Corvettes in generally will have a high speed push problem, and generally need more front than rear. A wing, or even really aggressive rear spoiler with no front to balance it out would not work that well.
