You just have to see it. It is too astonishing for words. There are so many details, which could only be done by real F1 nuts.
One little detail is Lauda adjusted a little *** on the dash just before his near fatal crash at the Ring. Then there were close ups of something failing in the rear suspension. Watch for it and comment. There are 3 love stories being told simultaneously.
The movie is not just for car guys.
similar story to that of Senna and Prost in the movie, "Senna" with the FIA favoring the Europeans.
I saw it yesterday...I've been waiting for it for over a year, so I was worried it might not live up to my expectations, especially with all the hype. I really enjoyed it. A couple co-workers that lived and worked in F1 during that era said it was very true to life.
Have you been to Austria? They all like Lauda. The whole country is immaculate and the woman are all pretty. If you want a German Shepherd, that's the place to find the best dogs. Instead of visiting the Lipizan horses, Beethoven's piano and Mozart's house, check out the Military museum in Vienna. Some of the guys in their lederhosen don't use deodorant and Austrians, (who speak Austrian) smoke heavily. Turkish cigarettes smell bad in elevators and restaurants. Excellent wine and crap food. Strange people, those Austrians. You don't see American cars there like in France and Germany. The Government is still run by *****.
Terrific movie! Knowing the outcome did not have an impact on how much I enjoyed it. My wife also liked it a lot. There weren't as many actual racing scenes as I had expected, which I guess is a plus for non-racers. The acting was outstanding.
Saw it yesterday. It was great! Like others have said, not as much race scenes as I would have expected, and I thought there'd be just a bit more emphasis on other drivers than the two. I get that the movie's about a rivalry, but a race does have other drivers, ya know.
It was interesting to watch it with some familiarity with the sport, terminology and brands, such as Bell Helmets, etc. I asked my wife if she'd ever heard of McLaren before and she said, No.
I thought it was amazing, but honestly I wish there had been just a little more racing. Not a lot more but maybe a few more laps of the bigger races. I would get all geared up when the cars fired up and the race started, then it only showed about 2 minutes of racing! The story and accuracy was great tho, atleast as far as I can tell from what I've read and heard, I wasn't born yet in 1976, haha!
