66 Intake Manifold Bolts - 427/425
I need some help in determining the "correct" intake manifold bolts to use on my 66 aluminum 427 intake. The Judging Manual says that they are supposed to be black phosphate. However, I have never seen those used and all the suppliers, Paragon, LI etc etc, just sell the zinc plated/silver ones. Anyone have an original car that can tell me what they have on the intake. Thanks.

I believe the JM is incorrect re the intake bolts being black on the 66 L72. I researched this some time ago and was satisfied they are zinc. Photos from Noland Adams book and original 65 and 66 magazine photos back this up.

427 intake bolts
I restored a 66 coupe a few years back that still had it's original engine, along with most of it's original engine parts, and the intake bolts were all black phosphate, with " FP " as a headmark.

They may have used some of each but the ones I remember removing from these engines late 60's early 70's had black phosphate intake bolts. That's what I put back in mine because I had an old set. You can't buy anything but silver now at least I could not find any.
