There are a few stock LS3 engines showing up in cars now. Saw a holiday sale for them at Southern Performance also. These engines may be takeouts.
Can't remember if Street Performance is taking orders for the 430HP ones or the 480HP ones.
Right now I'm trying to get a price & shipping date on the 480HP LS3. GM's performance website has part number now but no one, including GM dealers have been able to get info on price or when they will start shipping.
Thanks Poorhouse. I'm thinking an LS3, if theyre priced around 6-7k, may be a better option than supercharging my LS1, which I was seriously thinking about. Is there any difference w/ the exhaust manifolds compared to LS1?
Considered a big Cube LS2?? ERL offers a 500 ci LS2... World Products
blocks can go to 481 ci.
GM has their LSx block that allows for more CI's and built to handle up to 2000HP. Was thinking about one of those, but not many aftermarket suppliers of supporting parts to get the power to the ground.
I'm going to test the waters first with the little LS7 427CI 505HP and see how much of it's power I can hookup to the ground, then maybe downsize CI's to the new 2009 Z06 supercharged engine when the after market catches up with computers and software to support it. GM's new easy swap computers are too restrictive.
I'm waiting on wiring and software now to get LS7 engine and GM's 6L65 6 speed automatic to comunicate with one another. Street Performance has done a truck with that combination but FAST is having a problem with getting shift points programed on theirs.
My bigger concern right now is trying to get 4.0 ID 1/4 inch wall iron pipe to replace the 3 1/2 ID pipe in the tranny crossmember so I can run 3.0" exhaust from LongTube headers back. Exhaust size is the major restriction for making use of the LS3 and LS7 HP/TQ power potential. 2 1/2 inch exhaust doesn't cut it. No matter what Cubic Inches you have, you can't get the air in the engine to use them if you can't get it out.
