ok. being **** i know... but, i am amazed at the people who think all midyears are 63. i explain at first that 63 is a split window.... they dont seem to hear this.... i know, no biggie, but you would think after awhile, they would get it.....
What is or was the dumbest question you have been asked about your car...
I have a '63 roadster with the vanity plate "63S RAY" and a guy in stopped traffic, who obviously saw my plate, yelled over: "What year is the car Ray?"

At a local cruise in, my shirt says 1959 Corvette, my tag says 59VETTE. We are standing behind the car. Guess what question is asked...

Not so much questions, but comments:
My '60 is a factory fuelie.
I had it a a local show and shine in West Columbia SC 25+ years ago. Two kids walked up and spotted the FI unit. One of them asked the other, "What's that". The second kid, looked over and confidently replied, "That's a supercharger".
In '84, I was driving the same '60 from SC to California. I had a CB in the car and was listening to the truckers. I heard one trucker opine that it was a '55 I was driving. Another trucker, as confident as the kid back in West Columbia, corrected him and said it was a '64.
My '54 is, of course, made of fiberglass. I've lost track of the number of times someone walks up to it and says something to the effect, this one was made when they were still metal, wasn't it?
Last year at car show a younger person ask me after inquiring about engine size, "Why did you change engine from BB to SB?" He thought all Corvette were BB
I should have lied and told him it was one of the rare vette with a disguised BB that looked like a SB that was an option back in the day
About 15 years ago when I used take my 65 to car shows a lot the best question was always, are you the original owner? I would always reply, yes. Then I would say I was the only fifth grader with a vette at my school. Now It might be a better question, a little more grey and a little less hair.

I had a truly level-headed, hard working 18yr old helping me out on a project at the house. This kid already owned his own small business, owned a nice Dodge pickup truck and had enrolled in a trade school.
He'd seen my '64 from a distance many times. We went out to the garage to get some material and he was admiring the Vette up close (hood was closed). He asked about performance, etc, and was telling me all about a couple of neighborhood Ricers, especially a certain Subaru. He'd also been to a local dragstrip numerous times with his family and friends.
Then, in one of those moments that will always stick with ya, he asked......is the engine in the front or rear ? I was dumbstruck, didn't say anything and simply raised the hood and pointed, before getting back to work.
I certainly didn't think any less of this admirable kid, I was simply dumbstruck.
I was at a gas station in my 57 when this lady stopped and asked me if my car was a 59. I politely told her no, it was a 57, and proceeded to tell her the difference between the years. She looked confused and said: " Are you SURE that's not a 59?"
