I have a 1966 Coupe that was formerly owned by my brother in law, now deceased. He did not buy the car new. It is equipped with a 427 ci engine, 390 hp, 4 speed trans. It has a "stinger" hood, which some people have told me cannot be original, as they were not offered until 1967. A copy of "The Genuine Corvette Black Book 1953-1996" authored by Michael Antonick states in its section for 1966 Corvette facts: "The 427 cubic inch engines were introduced in the 1966 model. All with 427 engines received special hoods". Can I infer then, that my car indeed has the proper hood? Anxious to hear from the experts. Thanks!

Thanks to all for clearing this up. I was not aware of the "bubble hood" for big block cars. Since my car is not original due to addition of spoiler and additional tail lights, I think I'll leave the '67 hood alone. Thanks again!!!
I'm admittedly new to this C2 stuff but there were two distinct hoods.
The 66 big block hood looked like this
At least this is my understanding.
While the 65/66 had the bubble hood (best looking IMHO) this one looks way to high... Might be the angle of the picture, but if not, they did some work on it to raise the height..
