Thinking about this '64
.
.
I went over today and gave him a deposit. After checking out behind the glove box and under the dash.
I think I made a timely decision because he said that the car had just been discovered.
I'll try not to count my chickens too much. I guess there's a possibility of someone making him an offer that makes his eyes bug out, but I've put my flag in the sand.

wow, good job checking out the birdcage, and nice to see no issues there. Good find - good buy. (You still need to check out the engine stamp pad and block casting number and date and to see if you have bought an original engine car or not, just so you know what you have there.)
Also agree that DB is a great color, esp. when paired with a white or in your case a white/blue vinyl interior (491GA) - but that white ext over black int is well done too!

Where is the car located? There are two people I recommend to inspect the car. Dave Herlinger in Mountain View or Scott Jones in Campbell. They are the best when it comes to restoring or repairing c2s. BTW-how did you find the car?
Dave- 650-969-5351
Scott- 408-378-5652

What's not to like: Forty five year old car rattles
Are there many 40 year old cars that don't have any rattles??
It looks good to me, ....
I am more visual than "motor minded" though.

LOL. I'm 38 and my knees creak a little.
The temp stayed straight up at 180* through the evening's cruising.
There are lots of little things, I've noticed. Worn out latches, hinges, and switches. Plus screws that probably went AWOL decades ago.
As an example, my wife and I went to dinner in it. I was fooling around with the key ring and ended up losing the key, probably in the restaurant.
After looking for a few minutes I figured out that not only hadn't I locked my door, but the ignition could be turned on without the key, and away we went
!
I grew up long enough ago to have a little nostalgia for old creaky cars, so I'm just going to fix things that are important or just bug the hell out of me.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll contact Scott to have him look at the car, but I'm pretty confident that the car is straight and solid.
I'm around Westgate. An area I call CampbellSaratoga because it looks like Campbell but has a Saratoga zip
.
wow, gutsy move there - don't you know these cars have a built in "when you are most exposed" sensor (also known to some as a "furthest from home" sensor) that goes off at just the worst time, leaving you coasting to a stop at the worst possible time? Maybe you got lucky, or maybe your car is just biding its time

Sounds like you got a good car, and you have the disease we all share
I suppose you are already familiar with Corvette Clinic in San Jose?
PS I swear that I know that car - I remember seeing it around 15 years ago parked at the old Sears on Geary in San Francisco,
and having the opportunity to strike up a conversation with the owner who, at the time, was a fellow in his late 50s or early 60s.

Yup, been there already
.
I guess that's possible. I have receipts from shops in Campbell going back to the '80s. Do you remember if the car had a hand painted license plate?
