Default chrome plating prices

My quote-does this sound about right?

400.00 per bumper

120.00 for both exterior door handles

70.00 per hockey stick-seat rail

Total: 2,000

I got them to give me an estimate on small parts, but they wanted 70.00 a piece for the door locks and one big piece, the grille, came in at $1,000

Does anybody know of a quality chrome plating business that might be a little less expensive? The only local place i found is 4 hours away and they wanted even more money.
This quote is from Pauls chrome.

Thanks!

Seems high to me. I had my bumpers, door handles, misc. interior parts and my tail light bezels done (even though people said that they cannot be done) for $1,100.00 plus shipping. I had them done two years ago by Space Coast Plating out of Melbourne, Florida.

I called Librandi last week and the current price (same as 2008) is $290 each for bumpers. Eight week turn-around.

Any pictures of your work, I have some interest as well? Do you do valve covers?

I had '69 rear bumpers and front bumper done last month at St Louis Plating. $850, 4 week turnaround, ready the day they promised, beautiful.

Ready to put on my car re-painted black 2 days ago. Woo, hoo.

I use a local chromer in Providence, RI and NuChrome is close in Mass. I used the smaller guy because he uses the "original" type of chrome which I think is nicknamed Black Chrome. Other companies use a newer type that looks super but different against original parts. Look into Trivailant and Hexavailant chrome (don't trust the spelling). The type of plating will have a big affect on the cost and durability of the finish.

Cobrastang, I used Knox Custom Chrome in Knoxville, Tenn. I personally carried them to there from Birmingham. Of course you could send them. I just liked meeting with the people. They are reasonable. The company does not do polishing of stainless. However, a couple of their employees do. I was very satisfied with their work.

I can get the name and number of a fellow there in Birmingham that did some polishing for me and he is very good. He works out of his home.

Are we thinking about the same part? Not the frame that holds the glass but the heavy diagonal support for the entire vent window.

Did that price include removing any waves in the bumper?

My husband and I recently had the bumpers, door posts, tag bar, and quite a few mldgs for a 67 Vette re-chromed at Spacecoast Plating in Melbourne Florida. They, by far, did a magnificant job... best Ive ever seen. Charged $210.00 each bmp, $75.00 tag bar, $175.00 door posts and roughly $45/ foot on the mldgs. I cant believe how great they look. It seems these guys really know their stuff! I didnt think the prices were too out of line with other quotes we received... considering the finished product--- we dont plan on going anywhere else from now on. Why cut corners to save a dime. Our motto is "do it right the first time, because time is money". Besides, the last time we tried to go with a cheaper quote, we got less than par on the results. From what I saw when I dropped off our parts they do alot of Corvette parts daily.

I guess "you get what you pay for" right?

Their phone # is 321-254-2880. Hope this helps!

btw, Ive seen first hand what Pauls Plating looks like, and let me just say... BUYER BEWARE. And I think our bumpers are the first Ive seen after replating that no longer had the waves across the top.

Just had a quote $250.00 for each bumper
$150.00 for cross bar
$ 650.00 total

Paw Paw Plating- Paw Paw Michigan, have seen 2-3 cars with their work on it. They do an outstanding job. Now I'm close enough I can drop my parts off and pick them up, so no shipping involved

A company in Indiana did all of the chrome work, chrome pot metal and stainless steel for my car.

They did an excellent job! It was a quick turnaround and reasonably priced.

SpaceCoast is quite popular with restorers and rodders all over Florida. Consistent quality, reasonable prices but they usually have a serious backlog of work (all the really good platers do)...

Be cautious whom you select, I have a horror story over some re-chromed C1 grille surrounds I can share sometime...
