Default Project Engine Pull

Well I started the engine pull this morning on my 67. It was badly needed to clean things up and paint etc... Decided to quit for the day as I have all winter to do this. Thought I would share.

That's EXACTLY how I started the body off resto. on my 60. It's a simple as "I'll remove this so I can clean this" and before I knew it, I was pulling the body. I hope you are stronger and resist the temptation.

You've done it now Mike. You'll have the body hanging from the rafters by January.

Many years ago a friend once removed the engine in his 62 so he could detail the engine before a show. Within a month the body was off the frame, and a few years later the car was still apart.

Be careful, be very very careful

HA! No way Jeff, I want to drive this car and not sweat bullets everytime it leaves the garage. This cleanup is long over due...

But while the engine is out, might as well take the front suspension apart while you're at it, and strip, clean, and paint the front section of the frame while you're at it, and now everything you've done looks so good, and now the remainder of the frame would look so good while you're at it.......
I've got my last 2 additions on jack stands now, while I should be driving them.
Keep us posted, Buddy

Hopefully I will be able to get to Nashville in the coming few weeks and help Mike avert "project creep" that almost inevitably occurs in situations like this.

Mike, have you stocked up on Makers Mark and Shiner Bock yet?

I will be ready for you soon Nick! I will make sure we are fully stocked before you get to town brother. I'm down to the under car ork now, drive line, exhaust, shifter linkage, etc... I will probably knock it all out this coming week as I head in for knee surgery the 29th. I will wait for you before the glory lift so we can have a little fun together...

Default Cure for Creep

The Rx for Clean Creep is to pay someone else to do the job. Had I done the engine bay clean and motor exchange my '67 would still be off the frame. Instead I was able to drive it last summer and this fall. Had it out last Tuesday and put about 150 miles on it. BTW the speedo turned 70K.
macaggs, Your car looks great and I know you will have fun doing your own work. Clean garage too!

Good Luck
Earl

I've heard that when one's boom is too short, one must learn to compensate.

It is said that fellows with short booms go at it from the side while those of us with long booms go at it head on.

A bit of progress tonight with the help from my 10 year old Zack. I was suppose to wait for Nick (SupremeDeluxe) to come help and I got a bug to do it tonight, forgive me Nick... I will still buy the beer anyhow.

Thanks Jeff. I figure if I'm going to pull the motor to do this super cleanup I may as well do it right and do all the parts while they are out. Besides, hanging out in the garage with a beer and some Huey Lewis turned up loud it's not a bad way to spend a Saturday...

How did that fish get out of the tank? Don't paint it. Paint clogs up the gills. Your project is looking real good.

Thanks RedBird... I think I will pull the trans and bell housing today so I can get her in the engine stand. Then I can get my hands really dirty. Headed in tomorrow for knee surgery so I wanted to get the heavy stuff done before hand. I have to take a week off work so there's nothing saying I can't hobble out to the garage and clean and paint engine parts or maybe rebuild that 4 speed :o)
