I just had my rear view resilvered by Chaudron Glass in Baltimore
410 685 1568. I'm posting this FYI. The cost was $13 which I thought was cheap. Here are some before and afters. Shemp
Good to know, thanks. Is the date code still on the glass? Dave
I did not see a date code. It is from a 67 did they have date codes on the originals and where on the mirror is it? I don't believe it has ever been replaced. Shemp
Im curious how you took it off and what you are going to do to put it on..My mirror good but the ball that goes inside of mirror is loose (but for 13 buck why not get it redone??) and mirrior keeeps falling down when driving my Vette...
$13!!! you had better luck than i did. i took my drivers side door mirror to a glass shop to have a new glass installed after i took out the old glass. i thought it couldn't cost that much for that little thing! {didn't ask how much] went to pick it up. $32 i guess i shouldn't have told him it was for a corvette????

I'm not sure that 65-67 had the date code but late 63 and all of 64 did according to the JG. The early 63's were chrome plated stamped steel whereas the later 63's and the 64's were cast chrome plated frames with the date code in the lower right of the glass in the format of month-manufacturer(DMI)-year. DMI is for Donnelly Mirror Inc.
2DMI3 would be February, 1963. I'd also be interested in knowing if the 65-67 has the code. I'm sure some of the guys here know. Dave

I'm pretty sure all of the midyears had dated glass. My 66 rvm has a date in the lower right corner....

It doesn't say anything in the judging guide about date codes. Shemp
I looked at the NCRS JG, third edition for the '66 and on pg 19 it states that there were two mirrors available. However, it only describes the optional day/night mirror and not the fixed mirror. The day/night doesn't have a date code....

That's a REALLY old manual; the 5th Edition, published last summer, has twice the information and photos as the old 3rd Edition.
How do you separate the mirror glass from the metal frame?
My mirror glass is perfect, but the metal could do with a re-chrome.
I took a 1" putty knife and slid it under the glass a little at a time all the way around prying lightly. It popped loose about 3/4 of the way around. To install I put a dab of clesr silicone in the corners ap pushed it back in. It went in pretty easy. I was going to try to remove the rubber around the mirror but was advised not to. Shemp
