These are some really great histories of how our cars came to be where they are today. I have to say that I am somewhat surprised that many of the cars are still in the same area in which they were sold new or very close. Also it is interesting to see how far many of them have traveled since new. It would be great if these cars could talk and tell us the back stories associated with where all they have been.
Delivered new to Ewoldt Motor Company, Primghar Iowa. Stayed there 7 years, then to Eugene Oregon, then to California where I own it today. 67 coupe L-79.
My 67 was purchased by me in Danang, South Viet Nam, Delivered to me in Hawthorne, Ca ( Kenneth Chevrolet-long gone), Spent 4+ years in Long Beach, Ca, and I have had it in Camarillo, CA (about 75 mi from Hawthorne) since August of 1971.

Just recently found out through the NCRS records that my 67 was first sold by P.J. Grady Chevrolet, in Sayville (Long Island), NY. I could only trace its history back to 1990, and it has been in New England, upstate NY, New Jersey, and possibly a short time in Ohio. Now it is back home on Long Island, less the 20 miles from where it was originally sold.

John could you please post some pictures of your car. We were fortunate enough to have Jack stop by and see us last year here in Houston and we really enjoyed his visit.
Hello Road Vettes I really enjoyed reading about your cars history. It is especially fun to hear about cars that have been all over and somehow have ended up back close to where they came from originally.
I don't live too far from where my 62 was built.
It has its own advantages.in that at some car show I sometimes meet people that use to build Corvettes at the St. Louis,Mo. plant.
Thanks for your kind note Jack. I am surprised that you would remember me considering all of the people that you met on your odyssey last year.
I have enjoyed this thread very much and having been born and raised in Cedar Falls, IA I was interested to see the number of cars that had a mid west and Iowa connection. I even lived in Long Beach, CA for a time and in the old days it was known as "Iowa by the Sea" because of all of the Iowa people that had escaped winter and migrated there.
As you can see by the documents that I scanned I was supposed to receive a 66 but because of the strike I took delivery of my 67 in the first week of Dec.
My wife has always been distressed because I am an inveterate pack rat but I am particularly glad that I saved all of my Corvette documentation.

Doesn't everyone who lived on Long Island still live less then 20 miles from where they were born?

My '65 Coupe sold in California, from there who knows? It was bought in Oklahoma in 2002 and brought to Toronto Canada area. I bought it in 2006 and the car is just outside the Toronto area now.
My 57 delivered by Hammond-Jones Chevrolet, Lakeland FL 4/29/57.
Resided in Lakeland until bought by me 5/25/91.
Residing since in Sarasota FL (about an hour away).
John thanks for posting the pictures of your beautiful one owner 67. While I was never able to buy one new in the 60's I think that it is really neat to find someone who could buy one new and still has it today.
Thanks to everyone posting replies. It is very interesting follow the trails of where these cars have been.

PS say hello to the boys
LOL. Tell that to my kids, Jack. One is in Arizona, the other is in North Dakota. Oh well, at least my car came home .
Have a great trip out to Michigan. Give us a call if you find yourself traveling to Long Island this summer .
I was just wondering how many cars still reside in the same City or State where they were delivered new. If you know yours cars history or have your NCRS shipping data please post the info and lets see what the stats are. I'll start
1966 Sold new by Paul's Chevrolet in Torrance California and now resides in Houston,Texas
When I moved to Torrance in 1973, the Chevy dealer was Ted Green C hevrolet, and the buildings looked like they could have been around since 1966. By 1980 the name had changed to Martin Chevrolet, still in business under that name to this day. Do an earth search for 23505 Hawthorne Blvd. for a look. They also sponsor a Corvette Club so may be able and willing to search for paperwork on your car, (310) 378-0211.
My 64 was originally purchased in Huntington, W.VA. It remained there through 3 owners (and several accidents) until 2002 when I bought it with 87,000 miles on it and took it up to Connecticut where it remains today. Mileage is now at 227,800.
