My 67 was ordered in May of 1967 and built on 23 June 67. By the time the car arrived at Placke Chevrolet in South St Louis in early July the Ordering customer saw what the NEW 68 Corvette was to look like and turned down the 67 and reordered a 68!
Now sits an out of date, lightly optioned black/black 67/435 in the St Louis sun.
Mr Placke allowed his two suns to drive the car and before he new it the boys had put over 3,000 miles on it! Now no longer a "new" car it finely sold 2 Jan 1968 to its first owner as a used car for $3,887.25. Original sticker price $5,421.00.
It has had 6 owners all in the St Louis area. The first and second owner are still alive and have talked to both of them. I have a copy of every title.
It is mostly original except for the paint. It was changed from black to red in 1976. After I bought the car in 2003 we changed back to it's original color black.
This is just a little of the history of this great 67.
By the way, one more thing that makes it special to me? It was built on 23 June 1967 my birthday 23 June 1947.

My 65 was delivered to Greve Draum Chevrolete in Northfield, Ohio. That is 1 1/2 miles from my house. Always been close to home.

Hello Sub006

Thanks for the info on the dealership history in Torrance. I will give you a call to discuss in more detail. Thanks Jay

Hello Bill

You have a beautiful Black 67 and a great story of ownership history to go along with it. Thanks for posting the information.

Another one is only 1 1/2 miles from where it was delivered new. That is really neat to own a car sold right where you live. Thanks for posting.

Jay

I was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1962.

My '66 Corvette Coupe was originally delivered to Park Slope Chevrolet in Brooklyn, New York.

I currently live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the dead center of the US.

I purchased my '66 Corvette Coupe in Wichita, Kansas, two hours from where I live.

Did I follow this car or vice-versa .... ?

Ray you know the answer it is vice-versa. It was just meant to be. That 66 was going to tale you no matter where you wound up.

By coincendence my first 65 that was sold new in Austin, Texas is now in Long Island. Go Figure. I hope someday to bring it back home to Texas.

1958 - sold new by Fairway Chevrolet in Hazleton PA. Original owner sold it in 1961. I bought it from the second owner in December 2010. Car resided within 10 miles of the dealership until this coming Saturday when I will be moving it to MD about 150 miles away

Thank you Stewy.
I have been very very lucky to have been the care taker of many Corvettes but this 67 and the 63 M/T ZO6 that Mike Pillsbury found and we restored are really neat and special Corvettes.
Thanks again
Bill

I have mentioned this story before but it is worth repeating. After finishing the 7 year restoration in 2009, I drove it to Pittsburgh to meet the original owner (his name was in the owners manual). He was thrilled to see it. He bought it new in 1966 at the age of 22. He worked for the dealership. Traded it in the next year on a 1967 Impala as he could not afford the insurance for a Corvette. He is in the photo below.

We are 99% sure 3803 was orig to the middle of IL
My father remembers the car in black cruising the square of Canton IL in the early 60's
In speaking to the previous owner he bought the car off a used car lot in Peoria IL in 1960 - he drove it daily til the late 60's
We have owned it since 1970
so I am very certain it was car that is from central IL
