this is not the first one I have seen with the year wrong, and all were ao smith cars. another thing to remember is that ao smith had a strike in 67 and the bodies were on hold...after the strike they were rushing to get the cars out, this car is right after the strike period. since its such a basic car I doubt it is a fake sticker, it should have a few ao smith only Y codes down lower that the repop stickers most often miss...like 02Y89AA SUNFIRE YELLOW
I wouldn't be concerned - date errors between the "order received" date and the "expected date of production" weren't unusual, especially in 1967. This car was produced off the line at St. Louis on February 8th, which was a month after the strike ended at A.O. Smith. Sounds like a nice car.
I'm in NC, and the price is $55K. Car is not in NC.
IN MY OPINION, that's a lot of money for a car that is a factory 300HP, no protect-o-plate and Sunfire Yellow (not one of the more popular colors). If you told me it was a black 300HP car with air for $55k, the price would make more sense to me. You should do whatever your "gut" is telling you to do. All I am doing is giving you MY OPINION which is what you asked for. For that tank sticker to be real, then both dates listed on the tank sheet would have to be "typos", I'm not saying that couldn't happen, but the chances of it happening is a lot less than one "typo". The NCRS will NOT guarantee their authentication as 100% accurate. Also, if you are going to drive the car and enjoy it, why would you want a perfect car? Perfect cars are to be "trailered" and stored in warehouses so they stay perfect. Yours will only be perfect until the first rock chips your car. There are plenty of well documented 327/350 HP 1967's out there in the $60k range. They are not 100% perfect, but they are solid 8.5 to 9 cars and they look beautiful. I would rather have a properly documented "popular color" 1967 L79 for $60k range that is a 8.5 or 9.0 condition car instead of a 1967 300hp Yellow car for $55k that is a 10.0, but that's what I would do. Like I said before, go with your gut and if your "gut" says buy this car, than do it. Just make sure you are not "settling" for this car since you have been looking for two years. If that's the case, the "buyers remorse" will eat you alive over the coming months and when you do find "your dream car" it will be hard to get $55k for this one. Good luck in whatever you decide!
To each his own! If its what you want...buy it! Tomorrow were all dead and the small technicalities will be worth zip! I really don't think the differences from a 300hp and a 350hp are a deal breaker! JMO!

Frank despite your arrogance and what your opinion is, yellow is a popular and desirable color, and not everyone wants blue. I like yellow, drove a yellow 67 for over 10 years, put well over 100,000 miles on it, but you would not have liked it, cause it was not an L79, it was a crappy L68 w/ac, my best friend has a yellow 66 coupe (crappy L36 ac car) I dare you to bring your car (if it even exists..and its very doubtful) and park next to him..I bet after being driven over 700 miles to get there..his car gets more attention then yours..and trust me..you dont want to park anywhere near what I bring up this year...
Personally I like the idea of a low option base engine matching numbers car...nothing to prove for one, more stable value for two, and as far as a protecta plate goes (your ultimate idea of perfection) there are repopped every day for just a few hundred $$'s...most ao smith 300hp cars are now restamped 350hp cars some w/P-plates to make them look legit, many more repop data tags saying they were born blue..lol..bottom line..different strokes for different folks..don't poo poo a color just because YOU don't like it...
here's the 2 yellow cars together....I for one like yellow..and as a side note my yellow 67 was originally red w/red leather, it was yellow when I bought it and I left it yellow..I even put a repop trim tag on it saying it was yellow so all the armchair/internet experts would quit telling me it was supposed to be red. I still have the red/red one sitting here on my desk...

Too each their own. If you like Yellow, thats fine. A friend of mine painted a C2 Corvette in Sunfire Yellow for his wife and she loves it. I think it looks good, but me and just about every other C2 lover would prefer black, blues, or red. They are more popular, are easier to sell and bring more money.
I never knew there was such a premium for blues untill the last month, people tastes in car colors are always changing it seems.
Glad I could help by increasing your knowledge on the most popular colors. By the way, this "priority" in colors was developed based on conversations with Terry from ProTeam, Bobby from Mershons, Corvette Mike and Greg of Vintage Corvettes. These conversations took place without me being interested in one of their cars for sale, so I believe their responses were truthful. These guys sell C2's for a living and the response was overwhelming for black being the best color. With respect to the Blues and Red...one of these guys told me (I forgot which one)......"customers look at the red C2 and like it, but they wind up buying the blue one". Cheers Tom and I'm sure your friends with Blue C2's appreciate the comments by you and other CF members. Your envy shows.

If you like the car buy it! Don't listen to our new forum expert on anything, as most of his hotwheels are red/black! Both my cars are blue, 64/Daytona, and 66/Laguna and I would not suggest anyone buying those colors as they are probably the worst colors of each production year, please don't make the mistake that I did........now off to my search for that perfect yellow vert sitting in a warehouse somewhere!

Don't know much about Daytona blue because I never had an interest in 64 Corvettes, but I do know the Laguna Blue color. Personally, I could "live with that color", but it is not one of the popular colors. When I say the "Blue" colors, I am referring to Nassau, Trophy, Marina, Elkhart and Lynndale Blue (not Laguna or Daytona Blue). Sorry for the confusion and I would agree with your recommendation.
I have 2 blue, but the red gets all the attention, when you have more than one car you don't get shortsighted.

[QUOTE=5thvet;1578398424]Tweety,
That is probably an error at the factory. If someone was going to counterfeit a tank sticker I would think they would use the correct dates. If you really like this car and like you said plan on keeping it to use and you are happy with the price, buy it!
Ive seen errors like this before and they did make mistakes like this back in the day of non computerized records - the tank sticker on mine (was verified by NCRS) for whats thats worth
Ill post a pick of my tank sticker in my garage (dont know how to post here ? or if some one will post it I can email it to you
I believe it would be extreme to walk away from this deal because of an error on the tank sticker looks to be original ...my .02
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
