Ive seen errors like this before and they did make mistakes like this back in the day of non computerized records - the tank sticker on mine (was verified by NCRS) for whats thats worth
Ill post a pick of my tank sticker in my garage (dont know how to post here ? or if some one will post it I can email it to you
I believe it would be extreme to walk away from this deal because of an error on the tank sticker looks to be original ...my .02
If the ONLY reason he walks away from this car is because of the tank sticker, I agree that would be extreme. Having given the issue additional thought a tank sticker is desirable to verify a car with a 350 or higher HP motor, desirable colors (black, blues, red) or high/rare options cars (like cars with air conditioning). Having a tank sticker for the base 300 HP engine on a yellow car with no options does not add a much, if any, value to the car. Therefore, the real issue is whether Tweety should buy the yellow, 300hp, low option Corvette for $55k, or keep looking and buy a 327/350 HP car in a more desirable color with documentation. If it was me, I would pass on this car because if you have to sell in the future it will be harder to sell a yellow 300 HP car. It is not not me, however, so Tweety should do whatever he wants to do. He has asked for peoples opinions and we have given them. He should now listen to his "gut" and do whatever HE wants to do. I wish him luck in whatever he decides.

Update: I passed on the car....because of you guys and the great input in educating me on the finer points of picking the right car. I appreciate all the input and Frank (123) hit it on the head....find a 350hp car that fits my bill. Thanks!!!

The car I passed on turned out to be an HH (AIR California) car missing the pump, bracket, mixing valve, correct distributor, etc. No way to ever make it a legit authentic car.

I'm still on the hunt for a 1967 Sunfire Yellow vert with L79 - 350hp. If anyone sees a good one for sale, please let me know.

Thanks again for all the help. You guys saved me from a costly car.

Tweety.

Glad I could help Tweety. I tell it like it is....NO BS here and no "agenda" like many posters. I hate to see someone make a decision that they will regret and wind up selling the car for $10k less. I will keep my eye out for a nice Sunfire Yellow car since that is the only color you want. Good luck with your search.

Good luck with your search!

I still really don't see much difference in the 300 and 350hp as far a big value difference!
If your looking for a small block I would be more interested in the overall car! Body, frame, other options. As well as documentation. To me the straight body and a clean frame would be the most important issue. I would rather have a clean doc 300hp over a non doc 350hp.

But then again, I sold a 427 435hp vert. and purchased a 300hp coupe back in '75! Paid $1000 more to get the coupe

So don't listen to my sorry a**
