All it would have taken was making side exhausts standard equipment!
Now it's really is starting to look like Chevy Chase's house in the Christmas Vacation movie. All that's needed now is a reindeer strapped to the hood.

Although the backup light placed in the exhaust bezel looks good, if designing from scratch, that backup might look better a little further inside from the exhaust hole, centered under the tail lights. That way you could still leave the exhaust as is.
The previous owner of my 65 had the dealer add an extra red light prior to delivery. While I like the look, it's kind of old school like flared fenders, Hooker side pipes and dingle *****. I like the original configuration the best. Jim

The photo was taken at STEVE LUVISI'S SHOP ''AUTOMOTIVE EXPERTISE'' IN HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA JUNE 1, 2003. That is racer DAVEY JORDAN on the right who raced the 68 JIM GARNER L-88.
This is the same car at JEFF READE'S shop AMERICAN MOTORING MEMORIES. Left to right is the car owner BOB RADKE, CHIP MILLER, JEFF READE, JIM GESSNER AND MIKE SCOTT. WAY IN THE BACK IS RACER FRED YEAKEL. May 8, 2001.

Between the two choices, I'd go for 'A'. That's exactly the look I was going for when I cut the third hole a couple of weeks ago. And like others, I find it reminiscent of the Impalas of the day.
But I've changed my mind and am going for all 6 red.
BTW, mine was originally one red and one white and that worried me so I dropped the backup light in favor of another brake light. When I first decided to cut the third hole, I was looking forward to having a backup light again but looking at all six red changed my mind.

I've always felt the same, that single red light has no better illumination than that of a Model "T". Moving the backup light to either the 67 location, or a clever alternative, makes sense.

One of the mods to Impalas way back in the day was to make all six lights red.

I knew that some would say this
What i meant was that GM should have added 2 small back up lights or kept it as it was on the earlier Corvettes instead of those big cut out in the fiberglass.
I really like the 67 Corvettes but really do not like the back up lights that ruin the look of the 67

It's almost like someone at GM stumbled upon those lights in a forgotten storeroom and said, "Let's find a car we can stick these on".
I have trouble imagining that it was a bean counter decision. It doesn't seem logical to me that adding a 3rd light on each side was more expensive than adding that backup light above the license plate. They were already cranking out the round light fixtures. All they had to do was increase production on those and come up with round white lenses.
Fortunately, my car is white so they don't stick out as much.
