GM Styling/Design department thru the last Midyear model year concept car made had 6 tails lights in effort to correct managements use of 4 tail lights instead of 6. It was GM's styling, not us who are the ones that put 6 tail light in C2 concepts that we have been copying since. You need to do your research on GM's C2 generation styling/concept car as well as GM exec cars, COPO cars built for GM exec friends, 64 Worlds Fair car, etc.
I did not choose to put 6 tail lights in my 64 because it was a craze started by us, but because it was a craze started by GM's styling/concept cars....
If you can't find info on GM C2 concept cars by doing your on research, just do a search on prior threads and posts on 6 tail light subject by me in effort to educate members here. You might enjoy speed reading the pictures...

The bean counters may have nixed it for all we know, seeing how Duntov's 57 Corvette SS race car had 6, and then the 59 Stingray racer penned by Shinoda followed suite with 6, along with the Mako Shark and Mako Shark II concept cars = 6. Even many of Shinoda's original production car renderings for the Stingray had 6 tail lights as well... Those dastardly 'glass hackers of the 60's and 70's were just stealing the idea from GM design.....

Very simple, in the mid-'60s, Corvettes were lucky to be a break-even product for GM, they survived the first 10 years or so on "prestige". Impala, on the other hand, was the highest-volume, highest-profit model in the Chevrolet line, far outranking the plastic two-seater in importance.
I just love the look of the Maco Shark II
The best replica built Maco i have ever seen is in Norway
The car have the same front lights as the original one and rear bumpers that comes out when putting the car in reverse
Also have the roof as the original
The first Maco the owner built(picture 4 from the left)was ruined in a fire i think so the one on the on the other pictures is the second Maco he built
A lot of colors on this car though

I remember seeing a custom that had 6 reds and they put 6" LED white strips in the bumpers for the back up lights. It looked really good! If you had a set of bumpers the needed to be rechomed I would do it but I wouldn't do it to a nice set of bumpers.
