Does/Has ANYONE installed fender flares recently?
...or is that considered "verboten"? I'm not talking "wider fenders" on a big dollar, modern frame restomod - I'm talking about your "average" C2 restification; maybe NOM, etc. Personally, I LIKE (small) fender flares, properly executed, on a Midyear; I know others here on the Forum do too. I'm just wondering if anyone has the nuts to actually ADD them NOW (or recently), or is that considered the equivalent of adding a mustache to the Mona Lisa...

Ive seen some and they do look nice...but there is... if your selling the car as original a possible de-duct....the cost of returning it to stock....
I sure there are some other more well versed FORUM MEMBERSthat can chime in on this "to do?>>>or not to do"? question

Yes....a buddy of mine a few years ago was going all NCRS resto on his '65. New 1/4s were installed with strips perfect etc. But he kept staring at my car and before it was over he sent his body guy on a 350 mile round trip to measure my rear flares to copy onto his car.
Then another buddy was restoring a '66 that had some pretty big flares on the rear. He was going all stock..until he kept looking at the car described above. He ended up copying THOSE flares instead of going back stock.
Now...ANOTHER buddy has a '66 that also has some old school flares from way back when. Guess what....he's building the same style on his car!
Mine were done who know's when. I have pics of it from '71 and they were there then...but in the last few years there are at least 3 of my buddies adding them to C-2's!
Someday when I paint mine...they will stay. I think they are perfect!
.And another on the way!

Check out the recent adds for car sales on this Forum. There was ( is ) a black 66 coupe for sale with flairs and many positive comments about those flairs.
