that was 2006 - I cried for a week - then sulked for a year - then rebuilt it...

Dealing with the windshield replacement was my most "unfavorite" part of the the build... and there was lots to fix - so I feel your pain ry57pont. Pretty sure I might actually pay someone to do the windshield replacement if it ever breaks again - that's how much I hated it. lol.

I didn't realize it was that bad! And you only cried for a week????

Ps to the OP, take like a dental pick, one of the kind no one like to see near their mouth and come up under from the bottom and push it up, thru the filler and primer till you see a little bump and then take a dremel with an engraving bit or similar small bit and open up your holes. I would have come in to give help/advice sooner, but I have been limiting advice help to a five topic thread limit only! I was over my own self imposed allocation. Smile thing here!

I know this is an old thread but after thanking FASTEDDY for some earlier pics I ran across this topic and it shows Eddys beautiful 64 wrecked. FastEddy if your out there I'd love to read about what happened to your car (unless it's too sensitive of course) it's an awsome car.

I think I have you all topped for mistakes:

And no, the 63 XKE and the fuel altered were not rebuild-able.

I backed out of my garage and right into the back bumper of my 2011 Chevy pick up truck. Cracked the fiberglass over the left rear lights and dented the bumper in my truck. Boy did I feel stupid. Now I know why back up cameras and alarms are so popular, for old dumb a$$es like me!

Nope, both were almost complete "write-offs". Just the motors and trans, plus bits and pieces were saved.

Good idea . There is usually an aged dirty mark where all of the clips were.

Welcome to the dumbass club and don’t beat yourself up about it. On Monday, I did something stupid and ended up with a face and eyes doused with gasoline. At least it was non-ethanol so I don’t have to worry about my eyelids getting gummed up <LOL>.

I'm getting ready to install the windshield, when the chrome gets back, and I see that the lower edge is smooth with a few spots where maybe some old clips went. I started researching this problem and found this thread. I see from other pictures it looks like either my body guy or bubba hosed me. Is this easily fixable, what do I need to buy, and how do I go by fixing it? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dex.
