C 6 owner gets trapped in his car and dies
I realize this about the later model but thought it interesting.

Gotta love all this great new technology... In an old vette he could have at least open the doors manually and the windows don't seal too well anyway so there would have been plenty of fresh air in the cabin.

Well, there is a well marked lever on the door sill just beside where you are sitting. Pull the lever and walk right out....

That's an old story with some doubtful information, if you read all the comments from people who were there.

I also put one of those tools that breaks the window glass in her car.

In an emergency any means to extricate oneself out of a bad situation is fair game. .. Unless incapacitated in some way why didn't he kick out the window.

My wife went to drive my C6 and when she went to start it the battery was dead but did open the door to get in . I was in Hawaii when she called in a bit of a panic telling me she cant get out because of the battery being dead and the door cant open, after laughing I told to sit tight and I'll take the first flight out . Well that dint go over to well so I told her to pull the lever at her left hip and the door will open. Then she began to tell me what to do with the C6

This was posted way back also.
I feel bad for the dog for having such a dumb owner...
First thing I do on any car I've ever owned (new, used or classic) is obtain and read the owner's manual...

The other day, my wife and I came out of the bank and got into her C6. She pushed the button to start the car and nothing happened. She said, "Damn, the key fob is in my purse and I put my purse in the trunk". I figured the car door wouldn't open, but it did. She retrieved the key fob and off we went.
With a convertible, if you didn't know about the manual lever, you can at least manually unlatch the top to crack open the top a bit. It's electric so I don't know if you can push it open far enough to get out but at least you could yell for help (or yell for a knife to slit open the top to get out).

Story reminds me of when I took delivery of my '09. The dealer orientation included having me unlatch the door manually. I thought it was unusual and don't know if it was GM or dealer driven?

It's impossible to tell why the guy didn't do this or that as the experts here have stated as obvious. Did he have a medical emergency, Alzheimer's or dementia? Too many variables and not enough information. If something happens to one of you in your car, I'll just stand around and watch while you figure out the obvious.

A sad story for sure. It seems like everything that could went wrong, no cell phone to call for help, no witnesses, medical emergency, we'll never know the how only the why.
On a side note I wonder how many original owners where shown this emergency release by their sales person at delivery.
