[C2] Rag Joint Alternative ?
Borgeson has two types of "Cardan" joints (I just Googled it!)..........a typical single pin bearing u-joint, and a racing only "pin and block" joint. If I use their setup, I'd go with a single u-joint similar to the picture posted by GUSTO but about 40 dollars cheaper, not the pin and block type.
I'm considering making a 1/4" steel replica of the hockey puck, painting it black and bolting it solid to the original flanges with grade 8 bolts.
LICS is a consideration, although according to what's posted here, I'd be betting that the replicas available today are as strong as the originals.
I don't believe that there is much, if any movement or alignment issue between the steering box and the column. I feel that if I get perfect alignment between the two with the car at rest, then when subjected to severe cornering loads, there should be no variation.................unless the body mounts are in bad condition.
