I bought a restored '66 coupe last year, and it only has a left side rear mirror. Trying to do without it, and it is tough when one is used to this wonderful option. Got me to thinking about finding a "stick on" right side mirror where I do not have to put a hole in the door. Is that such an animal, and when was the first year for right side mirrors on vettes?

If you find a stick-on mirror that would hold up to the wind resistance, not to memtion how bad it might look, don't expect it to come off without taking the paint with it. NO right side for C-2's, don't know much on the C-1's, maybe an option back then. Dennis

Not sure about geometry as opposed to a C1, but my '61 has a right side mirror, and it is useless. It would have to be mounted way up on the front fender to be usable. Just sayin'....
I spent hours trying to determine if such a thing as a right side rear view mirror was ever optioned for C1's even as a parts dept. after sale accessory and everything I found was a big no. I called the Mirror Lady who has ads in ncrs magazine and learned that folks either mount a left side mirror on the right or a vintage Cadillac mirror. Problem is, you really can't see anything in it anyway and I was not about to drill holes in the door for the mirror mount. Sorry but bad news for C1 owners and probably same for C2. Sad and frustrating.
The right side mirror was a dealer installed option...never available from the factory. It would need to be mounted to the rear of the vent window so as to be useful. I own a coupe and over the years I've just gotten use to looking over my right shoulder before changing lanes (or, if I'm just curious as to what's over there)

Here, here!
Another mirror might give you more confidence than it justifies, you will still have a blind spot... Even in my 2013 Tundra with big mirrors I still do a 'head check' before moving into the right lane...

I installed a right side mirror on my 66 and I really used it a lot. I bought the same as the left one and mounted it in exactly the same place as the left, on the right door. I remember I had to move my head just a touch to use it and that became second nature when driving. I was used to driving trucks and always rely on mirrors a lot...
A couple of members cars with right side added.....

Right side mirrors work if you put a convex mirror over the regular one. You now have a mirror just like on modern cars, wide angle works, regular mirror does not.
Back when my car was new, when passing someone and needing to make sure I cleared them, I'd just floor it and assume that not much else could accelerate that fast... Worked for me.
I put a right side mirror on my 61 mainly for my wife. My wife likes using the right side mirror as a passenger when I change lanes. I also think it balances the car. I bought a right side mirror for the right side but it cost a little more then using a left side mirror probably because of the lessor demand. The only difference is the mounting hole, the size is the same and either could be used.
I too drove big rigs for a living and still pull all manner of trailers and can't imagine driving anything without a right side mirror. It's one of the first things I did on my 65 and eventually put a convex mirror over it making it even more useful.
