In the day a race car like this would be considered a special. My last name in Parks so it has badging on it " Parks Special"
The most common question is What is it? Is it a kit? When i say it's aluminum they walk up to it and knock on it............. I guess they want to know what it sounds like. pissis me off to no end. Ray
I worked with journeyman sheet metal technicians at a Navy Depot for a few years - some with decades of experience - I know of only one that could approach that level of craftsmanship.
A little history on the 64. Wrecked in the early 80's. Hit in the driver door. Bent the frame and rolled over on it's top. Parted out for another project car the PO had. The rear clip is about all there is along with some boxes of stuff that are the wrecked car. Then as time went on he picked up another center tub, frame and a terrible front clip. Along with boxes of used and some new parts i ended up with a big heap of stuff. He did save the # matched engine and trans that was running in another car. I got that also. The metal B pillars were removed from the clip and need to be reattached when the rear clip gets bonded back together at the b pillars. Need to set door gaps with the center tub and front clip mocked up before any bonding. Not being a vette guy and not taking the car apart it's a learning curve. Working away at the front end........Ray
So since the 80's it finally gets a front clip that is together and almost ready to bond to the car. This clip was from another car that was hit twice and poorly patched. Like goo pooing a jig saw together. Ray

I'm seeing a little 50's Ferrari/Aston/Maserati in there, too.
As a kid reading about skilled craftsmen in places like Maranello and Coventry pounding out one of a kind aluminum body panels fired my imagination on the glory days (IMO) of auto racing.
I'm in awe of your art, and in particular the attention to detail and completeness that most can only dream about. Well done, and I hope you'll continue to share the results of your labors here.

My inspiration photo and my teacher pic................Ray
Impressive indeed! So Ray, could you tell us a bit about your background in regards to how you developed your craft skills?
Thanks, Doug
Self taught. The designer in me came from i don't know where?
My first big metal crafting build was turning this fire truck cab into a 3W coupe. Body lengthened and chopped. Roof insert and complete tail fabbed. This car was never questioned as not being a factory coupe.
Then the 32 body from scratch.
Some yard art like the my peddle car that's in the SoCal booth. And i make little travel trailers etc.................................Ray
