Default 57 windshield mount " T " bolts

I had a new set of windshield mount " T " bolts From Doc Rebuild but I couldn't find nuts for them anywhere . Everyone said that they were and odd thread , so I ordered another set from a different vendor . The second set came with nuts but they were very thin and I wanted heavier nuts to pull the frame into the setting material . Same thing , Couldn't find nuts that would fit , even at " Fasten-all " , a large specialty nut and bolt hardware supplier . I managed to find a couple old used nuts in some of my bolt cans so I know they exist but for some reason they are making these with an unusual thread . This is insane. This is part of the job that should be simple but I have lost the last couple days looking for these 8 nuts with no luck .

I think they are 24 thread. If nothing else buy some regular bolts with matching nuts and grind down the head into the shape of a T I had to order a bag from Fastnall but I ordered nuts that were serated so I would not have to mess with lock washers.

They are 12x24. Don’t use any other type/size, or you’ll screw it up.
I think that ACE hardware sells them. The big box stores don't carry such. Here are some links on line. I use the last one (Fastenal), with the serrated flange. No washer with this one.

BTW, these are the same size for ALL of the C1 T nuts. This size is used in several places on C1 and C2 Corvette. Deck lid latches come to mind on both eras.

Thanks Mike . I will check at Ace this morning . I'm glad that you also mentioned that I will run into the same situation in other areas. You have to ask why they would use something so uncommon .

Not really that uncommon for a "machine" size. It's bigger than a #10, and smaller than a 1/4".

I tried a couple Ace Stores today and none had them so I will try Fastenal Monday . I also saw that some people sell them on ebay if I weren't in a hurry .
