Default Vent Window Mis-Aligned?

The vent window on the passenger side of my '66 roadster simply won't close all of the way. As you can see in the photo below, it fits fine at the bottom, but tracing the edge of the window upward, it simply won't clear the weatherstrip at the top, preventing the window from closing all the way. It seems to me that the top "pin" on the glass frame is in the wrong position/orientation as the top needs to go in toward the window frame. Raising or lowering the window slightly in the opening has no affect on the fit at the top.

I called and spoke to one of the vendors earlier in the year and mentioned my though . . . and was told there is no way the pin is in the wrong position or orientation, they were done in a jig when assembled.

Any other ideas guys???

You have to tweak them to take them apart. I would say it needs some more tweaking. And maybe the repro weather striping is not made as original

QUESTION:

How was it before you put in a new seal?

I know I can spend a quite a bit of time getting the new seal installed and the vent window to work correctly.

DUB,

The issue is that the window frame had a "chip" in it where the top pin slid in and I couldn't live with it any more. I bought a new frame (on ebay) a few years ago and had it re-chromed and transferred everything over to the new frame. The poor fit was evident right away and it seems that no adjustment seems to help. Can a glass company re-shape the vent window without destroying it?

If you can find someone who want to mess with tempered glass.

I think I would be more opt to try to tweak the angle of the pin myself. Due to the angles at play...moving it a little bit can change the angle of the frame that the vent window is in quite a bit.

I agree, it looks to me that the hinge (pivot pin) at the top must have been bent slightly out of its designed position; it should be forcing the outer edge of the glass/chrome frame into the weatherstrip as the vent is cranked closed. Compare/measure it to the other door for proper shape/position.

I don't think the chrome sash (channel) could be an issue since the glass keeps it in proper alignment.
