They will stamp it with any number you send them. I still have the title to a 57 chevy I junked years ago. Do you see how someone could stamp one of these and replace the real tag? Not everyone is as honest as you are Mike.
My buddy has an all-original 1961 vette, it's tag fell off the steering column. I warned him to zip-tie it as the welds looked like they were in poor shape. He didn't listen, and the tag went bye-bye. So this service suits people like him that have an honest need for a replacement tag. Maybe the seller should demand a copy of the title to prove ownership. Either way, banning this sort of thing doesn't help honest people.
I've dealt with a trim tag place on another brand of vehicle, and they required proof of the numbers and color options that the vehicle came with in order to do a replacement tag. Honest folks.
Glad to hear everyone in the hobby is so honest. If you read their ad they require no proof of ownership just your serial number. I'm sure they have no doubt have helped people in a lot of legitimate circumstances. My concern is with those who have bad intentions.

Don't know what popcorn has to do with topic but tampering with, making, changing, etc vin tags is against the law. I do not know how these guys get away with it. Seems like saying the big bad "N" word gets you into more trouble then counterfeiting vin tags.

What does saying the N word have to do with repro tags? They have been around forever. The issue is whether using them is legal, and that’s different in every state probably.
I don't like seeing this. Too many stolen cars and this doesn't help. Should not be on ebay in my opinion.
30 years ago I had a Corvette stolen. The thieves had ripped both of the trim tag and V.I.N. plates in 1/2 tearing them out of the car. The car was recovered and the pieces of the plates were laying on the floor of the car on the passenger side. When they arrested the thieves they were in the process of removing the engine from the car. I later had to talk to the arresting officer to get a form detailing the incident in order to have the V.I.N. tag reproduced along with the trim tag from AG back East doing business as http://www.datatags.com/]http://www.datatags.com/[/url] This was not illegal under the circumstances but the producer of the tags has to follow the Federal law guidelines to be able to do this. His tags and equipment will create an original type undetectable reproduction tag that will maintain the value of your car rather than the “curse of death” state issued replacement tag that will greatly de-value your car.
I can say In North Carolina...if you remove the VIN tag...that is FELONY...if you install one...that is also a FELONY. This is what I was told the last time I called in about it about a year ago. And it does not mean jack squat if it is all legit and no 'hanky-panky' going on.
BUT...some states do not care as long as the paperwork adds up.

ABSOLUTELY nothing. Some people inadvertently show their ignorance.
