Anyone have any experience with "Bumper Boys" out of Los Angeles, CA? I checked out their booth while at the Turkey Run in Daytona. I'm looking at either replacing or re-plating my rear bumpers and these guys pricing seemed reasonable.
I see you live in Florida. Frankie the Fink used a company out of Satellite Beach, FL that does a good job of plating. PM him and he will get you the name. They may save you a bundle on shipping. Jerry
I understand from a friend and restorer, they leave something to be desired due to omitting a step in the process. I have NO proof of this. You may or may not know that chrome work is not inexpensive in this hobby if you want something to last. There are several threads on here referencing peoples opinions of chrome work and pricing. Do a search. Dennis
I've heard good and bad about "Bumper Boyz" - no first hand experience...
Dick Barron of Virginia Vettes (out of Virginia) will replate reasonably and with quick turn around -- its not triple-plated, show quality but very acceptable for a driver. My 61 bumpers were done by him and my 63 rear bumpers also - it used to be $200/corner but that may have changed.
For show quality there is SpaceCoast Plating (on Florida's east coast) - they did my 63 front bumpers, show quality, but more money with a longer turn around time...

A friend with a C3 bought two rear bumpers from Bumper Boyz three years ago and they are now showing some rust and dullness on the surface. He bought another pair from someone else at Carlisle. I’d shop elsewhere. Dave
certainly rechrome your bumpers, the new so called GM licensed bumpers do not fit worth a crap. We have used. the bumper boys and the job is ok but certainly not superb but far better than the original GM chroming they did on the assembly line (of course that is not saying much!)
One of my friends bought a front bumper from Bumper Boyz for his '69 Z-28. After 2 years, the chrome began to peel off. Surprisingly when he complained to them about the poor quality at the Charlotte Auto Fair booth, they told him they'd give him a replacement. Since he didn't have the bumper with him at the time (it was still on the car in Ohio), he had the person manning the booth make a note on his receipt and sign it. Then later that year, when my buddy brought the bumper in question to the Bumper Boyz booth at our local swap meet in Canfield, Ohio and showed them the signed receipt, they reluctantly gave him a replacement bumper. I feel that this may be a case where he caught the right guy are the right time at the Charlotte Auto Fair rather than Bumper Boyz having a liberal return policy.
Bottom line: a low price is a poor substitute for quality.
speed n sport chrome in Houston has several Pebble Beach cars to its name. I am not sure what this means exactly but they seem to do all of Jay Leno's Duesenbergs.

All my bumpers came from Bumper Boys. I bought them in 2004. Like the previous posters eluded to you get what you pay for. I did not have any issues with peeling or rusting. They are now showing signs of thin chrome (back corners only). I had a couple of issues with bumpers they sent me but they were very accommodating and even switched out a rear bumper that I was not happy with.
My cores were very rough and they took them in on trade and I paid $1000 for the complete set. I thought that was pretty good. I guess I can't complain as they lasted me almost 15 years.
