You might want to rebuild/replace those calipers! Yikes!

Able to see the transmission code.

Still couldn’t get it free. Time to pull it. Today tranny and motor will be completely out. The Ridiculous headers and Z clutch bar got in the way. 🤬

The flag and gas cap are almost perfect. The others are good driver quaility.

No rust in radiator. Couldn’t believe the antifreeze was clean and green still after 20 years.

door panels 👍🏻
Will be going back on the car.

3969854 396 or 402 I think.

👍🏻 Thanks for the pointers.

My guess based on those block numbers: A warranty replacement motor for '69 or '70, maybe '71 car that was later wrecked and the motor salvaged. Could be about anything in the 396/402 hyd lifter selection. I can't imagine anybody buying a 402 over a 427 at the parts counter.. What is the block casting date?
What are the head casting numbers and casting dates?

the car started off as a 327 car. My guess is someone wanted a BB car and did it on the relativity cheap way and buying 396. That casting number is rather plentiful so would be easy to find

And wow I looked up that ‘65 real original big block. Good deal.
Going to wait another day until I try and see if the motor turns. I think this motor is a 2-bolt, so much dirt it’s hard to tell without getting it on the lift yet.
(and more walnuts then I’ve ever seen, squirrels? Mice? Idk)
Just watched another 396-425 maroon/black roadster go thru at Mecum Phoenix F131.1 showing sold at $85,250.
Good looking correct car but no evidence of any awards shown or mentioned keeping it from the upper $90's
Good seeing your still plugging away after the walnuts are gone.

Motor pulled pretty sure it’s an original 402. Will post more soon.

Looks to like ''CE70307'' which I believe is a ''CE'' Parts dept service block dated July 30, 1970. The cast date will be behind the oil filter on the side to confirm when it was made.
TRANSMISSION is 1968 Muncie 4 speed.
