biggd, it is obvious that you are doing what makes you happy. I believe that is the key to good health and a quality life. Age is only a number to somebody as fortunate as yourself. I have relatives on the East Coast, and have been to Boston a few times and hate the crowds and traffic.....but I LOVE the food and the history. Truly a neat place. Hell, all of New England is charming, IMO. If I lived there, I'd be 20 pounds heavier, as Atlantic coast seafood totally trumps Pacific coast stuff. I too have seen many of my friends and co-workers go down the tubes quickly after retirement. The ones who didn't were always busy. They flourished.

Most days are happy ones but some are not so happy. The happy days out number the not happy ones. When it goes the other way then I know I'm done.
I have to say - having a lift has allowed me to do more as time goes on...one of the large purchases that my wife was completely on board with after seeing me under the car on Race Ramps or jack stands...for years...
Gonna spend this week using Evapo-Rust on some frame parts and nuts/blots while standing up - makes a nasty job much easier...
Jack stands still work and I get down on the floor a lot faster now - getting up ? Not so much...

Disclaimer- I would rather take an *** beating than pull a 4-speed trans out of a C-2/C-3.
I keep hearing stuff like this. My replacement chassis is not under the body yet. I'm starting to think maybe I oughta look into that before it's too late. How much PITA is it to put a removable crossmember into a '66 chassis? The last time I tackled a tranny etc I was about 25, not 70.

I'll have to talk to my hot rod building buddy to see if he might want to tackle this. He's got about 7 years on me so he's quite attuned to stuff that can help aging bodies stay with the hobby.

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
