I found this rubber baby buggy bumper, ha! Do you think it will work or is it too thick?
I would say that is perfect. Strictly from a guess I would say it is about 1/2" thick. Roll the window down and make sure it is OK. You can always cut it down if you need to.

The pic below from Corvette Central's website gives the dimensions of the bumper.
Regarding your question about inserting the vent window rubber, as stated above, the shaft of the T-post passes through a hole in the bottom run of the rubber strip. When we did ours, we had the vent windows disconnected from the frame. Had to drill/grind the hinge pivot rivet to remove the vent window frame of the assembly. We used a series of punches/drifts to peen the rivet. With the assembly out of the car, my better half held the assembly with the flat rivet head over the end of a steel bar while I used a progressive set of punches to peen the rivet.
Finally finished. I didn’t have a rivet for the pivot so used a screw & nut. Only glitch was the rubber wouldn’t lay down flat at the very forward point. I pulled on it in every direction to no avail. Is there a trick to this?
