Slightly off topic from shipping itself, but one thing I really like about Paragon and Bair is they quote parts prices to the dollar. None of this "$29.95", they charge $30.00 which is a lot easier to work with IMHO.

I can live with the chart but take a 66 air cleaner lid. They tell me it is over sized and the cost goes through the roof!

I have done a great deal of business with this vendor and it seems the cost of shipping is a thorn to bear with all corvette supply vendors.

I agree
If I have to order something from CC I try to hold off until they offer free shipping.

During my five year (too long) restoration project I have planned ahead for most parts purchases with an ongoing inclusive list. At a minimum the major parts suppliers we all use have good discounts and or free or reduced shipping charges especially around the major holidays. Timing and patience can make things semi manageable and a little easier. If you need it NOW it will probably cost you.

What is this "planning ahead" of which you speak?

If you buy a fair amount from paragon and are going to continue to buy more as you restore or refurbish, they will give you a discount. You can specify it on your online order form comment as a reminder.

Going to have to check our Bair and Keen.

I definitely try to stay away from CC, as their shipping prices are crazy.

Once again, Corvette Rubber has done very well when I needed rubber pieces. I just ordered the deck lid, was here in no time at all, and at the standard priority mail shipping rate.

Default And another thing........

.........I have found that really whizzes me off is getting a small part that would fit into a USPS $7 flat rate box that arrives in a box 10 times larger that the part and stuffed with paper or air bags and getting charged a bunch based on box size because they pay a flat rate to a carrier and don’t bother with being economical.

I realize that it is only a few times a year, but for those of you on the east coast who make the trek to either Spring, Fall, or Corvette Carlisle, put in your very large (or very small) orders with any of the many Corvette parts vendors before you go and pick up your orders at Carlisle. If you are going there anyway, it will at least give you a three times a year savings on what can be ridiculous shipping charges. Yes you will likely have to pay PA state tax but in most cases that is a lot cheaper than a crazy shipping charge. Many of the vendors have stopped bringing parts to Carlisle and just hang out at a folding table with a stack of their catalogs. Not like the old days . . . sigh.

I have picked up my completed Muncie transmission, completed soft top, restored A-arms from Bairs, and a set of big block heads at Carlisle. Imagine what the shipping charges on those items would have been. Yikes!

Yes, they do me the same way. If you don’t call and complain, they’ll just keep right on doing it. And they seem to do that more on “for sale” items!
