All this nonsense will go away if everyone voted for the Republican party. No one else had the guts to say it.
Sorry

I can tell you with absolute certainty that there are areas where Government Employees would/will push this to the furthest extent possible, while at the same time there are areas that it will never be enforced, simply because most Government Employees wouldn't venture into the neighborhoods. And if you happen to live in a decent area, don't think for a second that they will not go after the home hobbyist. They'll simply do so stating that the law applies to everybody, regardless of your objective.

Unfortunately, many of you hear about the crazy laws/policies in the State. Just when you think they can't get any crazier, those in charge seem to make a game of who can top one another.

The Bay Area (San Francisco), makes a big deal about plastic straws, and effectively places a ban on them. Yet the same area is full of homeless who defecate at will (in the open sidewalks), and the City offers drug addicts a place to shoot up with plastic syringes. And the plastic syringes are found, having been discarded everywhere throughout the City. But by gosh.....we're gonna outlaw those plastic straws!

Our illustrious Governor (Newsome), just signed into law providing health insurance to all illegals under the age of 26, yet will fine the citizens if they do not purchase health insurance. And don't forget to pay your deductible (unless you're an illegal).

Need to pay for uninsured motorists on your policy, because quite frankly, the likelihood of getting into an accident with an uninsured motorist is pretty high.

Firearms.....you shouldn't have the right to own firearms, but yet we'll reduce the theft of a firearm (less than a value of $900.00), to a misdemeanor. Simply because, you know, the criminals are just trying to get by, so you don't want to charge them with a felony should they steal a firearm. Besides, if you happen to be a working individual, who works for a living, pays taxes and so forth, you must be one of the "privileged" individuals who had the ability to work for a living, instead of getting hooked up on drugs and/or alcohol. You should pay for those who chose the wrong path.

I guess I better stop now, but honestly, I can see this as business as usual.

I love TEXAS, after fighting this for 50 years. I was a resident from 1965 to 2015, and in the garage and service station business from 1966 to 2002. I believe originally, this law was to protect the licensed shop who pays all the fees and workers comp. The choice today is REVOLUTION........or MOVE.

Not only that, but the same enlightened individuals actually voted to KEEP governor Brown's emergency-measure doubled DMV registration fees and gasoline tax...forever. No doubt, the same 'progressives' that voted Gruesome into office. I can say this about the original topic: California has nowhere near the manpower or ability to enforce the auto repair at home law in Sacramento County. It simply won't happen. So, wrench away, people!

Most of these laws like this get started from someone abusing common sense and being disrespectful of the area.
Previous post stated something about wildcat auto mechanics running shops out of their homes. You get people like this who basically trash out the street with cars in disrepair, the neighbors finally get pissed and complain enough, Authorities figure out they really have nothing to enforce, so they create laws to control the people with no common sense.
I am on a couple of facebook groups where gearheads complain of the HOA's being on their @sses, one guy last week was complaining of the city giving him only ten days to get the 8 non working vehicles he had parked on his lawn, registered and parked legally. Wow can you believe that? Only ten days? Just about no one in the group recognized a problem with parking 8 non working vehicles on your front lawn..... Most believed that if it was your property you should be able to do whatever you wanted.
