[C2] 67 Corvette 4 speed shifter

67 Corvette 4 speed shifter
1967 Corvette 327/300 4 speed. Having a hard time removing the shifter. Can't get to the mounting bolts from top or bottom. Going to remove engine and transmission. Help. Thanks

Is it a stock shifter or an aftermarket one such as a Hurst?

If it's a stock shifter, it WILL detach from under the car. I did mine in the '80's. Replaced it with a Hurst Comp Plus.

I was removing the engine and transmission when I did mine, so I unbolted the trans at the cross member and slid it to the passenger's side to gain slightly more room to get to the bolts. It is still a challenge.

Thanks for all the help. I thought it was bolted to the transmission but it's not. I unbolted it from the frame but still can't remove it. So I'll let it hang and remove engine and transmission together. Thanks again. Ya'll are a great group of Corvette "NUTS".....LOL. Hal
