I replaced the front and rear glass on my 66 Coupe. I used Auto City Classic Glass everything was shipped packed really well and the glass fit as it should. I would buy glass from them again. In fact I plan on getting all new glass from them for my 1970 Chevy truck restoration I'm doing now.
Thanks for the feedback. Did you have the glass date coded by them? How did you find someone to install the glass considering it is a a 1966 automobile.
Thanks again,
Gene

They offer that date coding as an add service its on their website. I didn't bother with that.
I just went through that nightmare on my 66 convertible and I can tell you that it is a waste of time to try to find someone with the experience in installing the windshield in these cars. They only know the modern cars . The Corvettes are totally different than other GM cars like Camaros, Chevelles , Etc. I tried to get a local glass installer with close to fifty years experience ( The owner ) to install the glass . He came with a helper and they took the glass out but when they started to install the glass I noticed that they weren't cleaning anything of dirt and old sealers in the glass channel . One of the reasons I was having the windshield replaced was because of major leaks and the sloppy way they were doing the job it would have leaked everywhere. So I paid him for removing the glass and sent him on his way. I spent several hours just cleaning everything and installed it myself but it is not a very easy job . The hardest part is preventing leaks. You have to seal everywhere . Even after all of the care that I took the water was still seeping in a little at the bottom trim piece because I didn't want to put too much sealer around the clips and the water was still getting under the bottom of the rubber. I took the bottom trim back off and bought a special windshield sealer that is supposed to flow down into all areas to seal and does not interfere with the clips . That sealer did the trick and now I have a new windshield and no leaks anywhere.

What is that special sealer? I'll be doing mine soon and have CRL 7708 on hand which is claimed to be about the best.
Thanks so much for the insight into the job. I don't think I can pull it off myself so I think I will have to find a restoration shop. Do you remember the sealer that you used? Thanks again for your help.

Being between Utica and Syracuse, I'm sure there is a decent shop not too far away. I suggest you go to the Northeast section of the forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/northeast-40/ and start a thread asking for recommendations. Do you know any other C-2 owners in the area who could steer you to a good shop?
Why are you changing out the one that's there now?
Sorry I didn't give the type of sealer . It is Permatex Part # 81730 Windshield and glass Sealer. It is made to flow down into the hard to reach places. It comes in a small tube but there is enough to do the bottom of the windshield which is the critical area. I bought mine at Advance Auto Parts but everybody handles it.
