Like a darn fool, I allowed this to happen two years ago. I definitely am in need of a committal!!! Now she looks in the garage and wants to know why this isn't over there and that isn't over here and why isn't ......

Standalone, heated, 3 car garage, built into a quarter acre hill that needs mowing. It has an insulated garage door - 3rd stall has a people door, no side entry because of the hill, and there is a full upstairs that walks out to the back yard. I installed a four-post lift and a high CFM 80 gal. air compressor with an array of dryers, separators, and oilers for pneumatics, jacks, blasting cabinet, media blasting and spraying (so far I've only sprayed the John Deere 316 restoration that mows the lawn there [:p]). There's even a rotisserie (with a '95 Mustang mounted rn). I wired 220v for the compressor and a couple of 220v drops for the mig welder/spool gun. It's a restorer's/hot rodder's garage with Oberon and Canadian brews in the fridge. The upstairs is metal work stations and storage. It's located on a dirt road on a quite less than average private lake in a rural area, so nobody really knows it's there. The only thing it's missing is an American Standard bowl to drain the Labatt's (the unofficial state beer of Michigan), and I did need to buy a bunch of 'second-set' tools so I could still have a wrench or two at the regular home's garage. I am blessed - wish I could figure out why.
Now THAT is awesome!!!!!

Nope, not wood at all.... It's an old steel Army Surplus desk I bought at a high school industrial arts auction many years ago. Lots of flaking paint and surface rust, and a laminate top defaced by years of students in shop class. I think I paid $20 for it which equates to 15 cents per pound..... Heavy! "one of these days" (lol) I'll restore it .....yeah, right!

Enjoy life, have fun ... a spotless shop / garage is overrated. Neat / somewhat organized is good.
I'm a firm believer in "live and let live". Personally, I think you can have both...a spotless home garage that occasionally isn't due to work being done. Being OCD that's just the way it is for me. When I'm working/servicing the 'vette, the tools come out, things get a bit messy but when I'm done working on the car things get put away and cleaned up until the next time...which is usually months and months. All my "stuff" is in drawers and cabinets neatly organized so I can instantly lay my hands on whatever I'm needing to use. Just the way I roll.
Now, a true working man's garage is a totally different breed of cat and totally understandable that it wouldn't/couldn't look like a home garage that gets occasional use as a work shop.
Different strokes for different folks.

Next time I need an operation could the surgeon perform it in your garage? Looks cleaner than most hospital's ORs. LOL.

I'd do a surgery in Leif's garage any day. I've performed major surgery on many animals in muddy fields, on kitchen tables, work benches, and many on the tailgates of my work trucks thru the years. Leif's immaculate garage and car are true beauties!!!!

Although this my house "Garage", I think of it as my "Shop". It's a bit cluttered but I know exactly where everything is, most days. I occasionally search for hours for something and that refreshes my memory of where other stuff is!
Most important of all is a good sound system.

I "usually" keep my garage pretty organized, but I have been in there everyday after work for the past year, so I do not always put the tools away. I would just have to get them out again the next day. I can still fit the Prius in when the weather is bad. No way to fit the Ram 1500 or the wife's Acadia in. With the low ceiling they will not clear the doors. Got a beer fridge & stereo so I am G2G 👍

QUOTE=Vega$Vette;1605792156]I have a bad habit in my garage/shop.

I always keep it clean with everything in it's place at the end of the day.

If I work late and it's a mess the 1st thing I do the next day before starting any work is clean and organize the space.
Last summer I moved to where I live now with a detached air-conditioned and heated 650 sq ft + garage that is super nice. Everything I ever wanted to hold and work on my 67 convertible and 997. Once I had everything unpacked, and new cabinets plus workbench, I keep it clean and uncluttered. My cabinets are on wheels which makes it easy to vacuum under them (the VacuMaid Pro I have has a long enough hose to reach the entire floor of the garage). After coming from a home where I lived for 32 years that had a two car attached garage which was pretty hard to keep clean, the difference sure is nice. I'm more disciplined about the garage and no clutter than I am with my desk in the house--in my defense the garage was the main selling point. What can I say--I'm just a car guy!

Just a regular working guy here and after raising the kids had planned on putting up a new garage before shopping for a C2. Priorities changed 3 years ago. Never thought the previous owner of our car would decide to sell but when he let us know it was for sale we jumped on it. First saw it in the late 70’s and knowing it’s history along with having the options we wanted was important. Current garage is 13 x 20 so most work is done outside for now. The garage is a bit stuffed (understatement) with an arc welder, 225 amp wire feed welder, 50 amp plasma cutter, band saw, compressor, and a lot of parts for a rust free 1968 Oldsmobile convertible that went to storage when the C2 arrived.

A new garage/shop is planned but this works for now. Feel very lucky to have this car and since it was a bit of a project (due to long term storage and its age) it was price right. Projects like this are fun for me and my 350 hours of labor was free. 27 Degrees this morning when pulling out of the garage to head to work today. It was a nice drive.
Petdoc, like you and others I admire all of the beautiful decorated garages, with a bar, TV and lounge area, pristine floors. Heck, I've even saved all the hot rod, custom mags from the 50's on as well as the Corvette News from 63. All in the hope that someday I could have a library for friends to come by and peruse the holdings while telling tall tales from days of old. Buttttt, it seemed like I would always find another car to buy that needed fixing up and garage money would go for that instead of a garage. And now, there are fewer and fewer guys around to tell tales of old.

I have made some progress though from meager beginnings.
Here is the first garage where I learned from Dad how to rebuild or change engines, transmissions and differentials as well as customizing and even painting trophy winning cars. In the winter we would roll the rug down that would become the door to keep some of the weather out. Certainly not a fancy place but made deeply rooted memories.

Ahhhh, a new garage.

Oh no, two garages and STILL NOT BIG ENOUGH.

As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree....

Now I'm not dissing anyone.... actually, quite the contraire... I'm very happy for you and I know you're truly proud of your great cars and pristine shops, perfect driveways, and beautiful lawns around your facility. Honestly I'm quite envious; not jealous, not begrudging or covetous .... just envious.

I started cleaning up my messy shop last week; a process I go thru every 3-4 years, and I wondered how many of you guys DON'T have your car in a "Taj Mahal" type setting. So I snapped a few pix, and decided to create a thread for us clutter mongering, shade-tree guys.

Out here on the ranch, I commonly pull a car out of the shop and park it in the dirt so I can work on a tractor, farm truck, shredder, trailer, agricultural sprayer, etc; Yep, PURE SACRILIGE, I know!

So, for those of you whose cars sit on UNcheckered (or worse) floors in drafty, greasy, hot/or cold (at the wrong time) shops/garages.....THIS THREAD'S FOR YOU, my brothers!

A sad thing is that these pics were taken AFTER my big clean-out! LOL

So, Enjoy............... (or cringe)!

And come on, my messy brothers, snap a pic, and see if you can top this shxx:

After posting this, if I need to delete this thread and submit my resignation to the forum, I do understand....

-Lee
Lee,
IF I had your collection I wouldnt care a hoot if I had to live in a tent or a 50 gal oil drum to make room for them. And further----IF my garage/shop looked as clean as yours I would indeed die a happy man. I keep pitchng and cleaning but the garage is still too small even with a lift. But--I keep trying and will keep on keepin on as they say.
Do I envy you? NO, I HATE you. You give me hope. I WILL hit it again in earnest this weekend. Then MAYBE I will be able to send a photo that will not embarass me.
Great job.

Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa............. Like I said, Eddie, this was AFTER my BIG clean out....It's kinda okay now....it was very embarrassing before... I'd gladly give an unused body part if I could have a lift, but not happening with my low ceilings....I guess we all have our own demons...lol
