I have the AIM and still wasn't sure where the negative cable attaches to. I can now see that the positive cable goes from the positive post to the B on the starter solenoid. I am trying to find where on the engine block is the negative cable supposed to mount/ground to?
I need help installing my battery cables for the first time on my 58 Corvette.
I looked in the AIM and it wasn't very clear to me so I am hoping someone can help me.
I would think the negative cable needs to attach to the frame somewhere or something.
And I would imagine that the positive cable needs to get connected to the starter solenoid. If so, where?
Appreciate any help here.
Jason
Jason,
The negative cable (normally a braided strap) on my very early 59 goes to the back of the engine and uses one of the bolts (nearest the battery) that attaches the clutch housing.

When you are saying the clutch housing, are you meaning the bellhousing? So the braided negative strap goes from the negative post to the bolt on the bellhousing nearest the battery?

Attach the negative cable to any convenient point on the engine block itself....bell housing.... or whatever. Just be sure it is a secure, solid connection.

Yes, I was in a hurry, had a brain fart and could not think of the word bellhousing. My bad, but it was the best I could come up with in my haste. Sorry.
