Default timing light

I got a timing light for my heads and cam startup but i hooked it up and started the motor and it wasn't flashing. I tried a couple different grounding point and i even put it on a couple different vehicles and nothing. It is an ACTRON timing advance analyzer. Its nearly fool proof hooking it up right so do you think i got a faulty one or am i doing something wrong. I hooked the red to the positve battery terminal and the black to several different grounding points and the little clippy thing on the #1 plug wire.???Whats up?

I do not wish to appear facetious but did you pull the trigger?

i use the battery connection at the alternator and the ground at the alternator, try moving the clamp on connector to different spots and make sure its plugged in well at the base of the hand held unit....mine works fine

I have had cheap plug wires that did not work with my timing light. Since you tried several vehicles, I would not suspect that though. Take it back and get another one.

ther might be an arrow on the magnetic pick clip pointing towards the plug or maybe like mine the magnet fell out ! I replaced the magnet and it started working again

At least now you know you aren't crazy and the light was just bad. Have fun with the new toy. When I got mine I had to try it out on several vehicles to just play.
