well, i finally picked up my vette today and was all happy and all that..... it has been a load of issues since.... first, i couldn't get it on the trailer... i had to find some long boards and sort of make extension ramps to make it happen.... well, it gets to my house and i got it in the back yard and managed to clear out some of the garage to pull it in..... so here we go..... i pulled her in and started to look at the paint..well, the paint is really nice but there are a few issues...... one, the painter didn't really mask anything off so i have a isht load of overspray in my wheel wells, rear end,and engine compartment and also the wiper compartment... that really pissed me off since i spent alot of money and time for chrome and paint..... next i noticed that the little lip on top of the door that fits under the pilar wasn't really painted, so i have to touch that up with my aribrush. then, i noticed that one edge of the hood wasn't even painted.....wtf...... then other area of the hood were a bit poor...underneath that is......... so, i am glad to see that car with the paint but now i have to see what i can do to cleanup the overspray and touchup the areas..... it a custom color so i hope they made extra like i said....... just another setback ....... the car is a mint like green with a nice pearl so when the light hits it it really sets off the paint... really nice..... it's just the little areas that bother me.... i'll get some pics up on saturday
i fixed the issues...i used my airbrush and sort of blended it in.... u can tell if i show u but it's all good now.... i started wet sanding it and sunday my friend will come over and buff it all out....
If I may ask. How much did this paint job cost you? What was involved? Did you strip the car before bringing it in or did the body shop do all body work and then paint? Another question: Although right now I don't know what was exactly done here. Why didn't you bring it back for the body shop to take care of your paint issues? I don't understand. Why did you feel you needed to air brush in some areas on your own?
first, i stripped it all down last year and did some body mods... molded the front and rear fiberglass bumpers, shaved my marker lights, shaved my locks and handles, shaved my antenna..... i paid 2100 (supposed to be 2500) to practically tweek all my body lines and primer/paint/clear.... i have known these friends for a few years and if you really seen that car after they got done it really looks nice.... the process for the paint was this.... base was a mix of bright white/light mint green/.... next coat was pearl/clear coat then a few coats of clear... they had to respray it twice since all the cut ins were a shade or so off....... honestly i don't mind the outcome it was just that i couldn't see how they could have missed these few spots.....
