Once I get rid of the cracks I just found on my crossfire intake I'll get that kind of mileage.

I used to get 23 highway on my first 73, which I bought new... but it had an L48 4 speed 3:36... and that was if I kept it under 70.

But this 454 might get 10 highway on a really good day... and 5mpg the way I usually drive it in town But it only gets the tank filled once every couple months.

But I remember why I didn't buy a 454 in 1973... and never bought a big block until everyone thought they were collectible

Last time I figured my highway mileage I was at 22.4. Is that close enough?

12 mpg here, cruising at 70...actually what I have it's not too bad..would be better with an OD tranny, but, i can get buy a lot of gas for the price of the tranny.

I could put heavier springs in the outboard carbs to delay the opening, that would greatly increase the mileage.....

Default Fuel ecomnomy...

I'm getting 8mpg. It's my daily driver. I live in California. This is not good. I'm running a stock L48 system here, what can I do to get my fuel economy up that won't cost me a fortune?

buy a civic j/k make sure your car is tuned, plug wires distributor cap etc. Also make sure the catalyst converter isnt clogged the emmision equipment is in good working order no vac leaks, all filters and such in good condiiton. You should be getting about 13-15 mpg thats what i get in my l82 4 speeed 79. The poor mileage could also just be the gas cause cali puts so much anti smog stuff in it, it hurts mpg.

Default 21 mpg, 330 HP

Ok, so maybe not as good as a new vette but just got back from a long trip and wondered what my highway mileage was. I was also doing around 80 so next time I'm going to drive slower and see what the mileage is. What does everybody else get?

(oh yeah, i have a TKO500, 3.08's, and TPI )
