Default Look out for the ditch

First time driving my 76, Its a long strory. Going straight down the road at about 30Mph it seems to track straight but if I just barely turn right is seems like it wants to go all the way to the right. If I put it back to center and go left is seems to work fine, but every movement right makes you aim for the ditch (Just put on new tires). Any advise would be appreciated.
I am still smiling about the first test drive but I can see I still have plenty to do to make her road worthy.

Yes it has power steering. I forgot to mention that the pump was empty when I got it, the controller had fluid leaking. I read somewhere about bleeding the system. How do I center the valve?

To center the valve...

1. Put the front of the car on jack stands

2. take small plug of the end of control valve ( on drivers side) Under the plug shoulf be a locknut.

3. with the car started turn the nut either left or right until the tires stop turning

Had the same problem, centering the steering valve corrected it.
Very easy to do.
Good luck.
