alls well that ends well. hope this doesn't happen to u. i replaced mine and a yr later it started leaking so i ripped the heater core and all of the components outta there so it'll never leak again. it is a PITA

My heater hasn't been on since 77. I don't expect to have it on any time in the forseeable future, so I really hope I don't need to do this. However, if it needs doing, I ought to do it while my interior is out. BTW, that furball can really block the air flow in the vent.

I live in Torrance, California (about a 25 minute drive south of Los Angeles International Airport). Every morning, about 10 minutes or so before I drive to work, I go out and start the engine of my daily driver and turn on the windshield defroster. I need the heater in my car to warm up the windshield to get rid of condensation. The windshild wipers will get rid of condensation, but the windshield will fog up almost immediately. I need my heater for a clear windshield. Over the course of a year, there's probably only 20 to 30 days a year where my car, parked in the driveway, is not covered with condensation in the morning!
