Moral Dilemma

Burning Brakes
There is only one solution that will make you happy.
If you want something with better handling, more comfortable and quicker, but think you'll miss your c3, trade them both in for a new Vette.

In a GTO when you drive down the freeway or around town, people don't notice you. My '76 has terrible paint but I still get lots of stares; you'll miss that. But of course if you really do want to sell it... It could have a nice happy home in my driveway here in Cali

It's more than the power, speed or handling
Pull into a burger joint or anywhere, with both of them.
In the vette, your chest puffs up & you smile because people notice & admire your car
The new GTO has all the pizzaz of a Nissan Sentra
As far as I'm concerned Pontiac really flopped with that car
The new Mustang GT has remanisent personality & image, & looks it

cruisin down the road, tops off, big v 8 screaming, versus nice quiet but fast GTO, no comparison two totally different feelings, how many people stop and ask about the GTO? anybody can go buy a GTO. keep it, or you will regret it

dont do it
I had a paid off 86 pace car convertible in showroom shape that I was just tired of. Of course this happened after buying a new toy at the time. the vette sat there taking up space while I was out playing with the new toy. Then I wrecked the toy a year later and in a knee jerk reaction sold the vette for a new truck so I didnt have to wait for the toy to be fixed.
I regretted it within a week, and I hadnt driven the car in about a year. To this day I still wish I had that car back. Since then I have bought my 74 and will never sell it no matter how bad she is to me or how long she sits on jackstands. I will say I am getting a c5 or c6 in a few years for a dd after I move back to tx. Hell they're better on gas than my new truck not to mention better to look at!

We have,
1971 Vette 454ci (bought 2 weeks ago working on it)
1979 Vette L-82
2001 Prowler
2001 GT Mustang
2003 Ford PU
Now of all these great toys, I'll pick the Vette first everytime. The Prowler and Mustang my wife uses (I might have driven them 5 times) I get a hoot watching the face's as I pull up beside someone and they twist their neck to look at the Vette, these no better feeling.

I'm definitely holding onto the car for at least the winter, so we'll see how I feel next spring. Maybe by then I'll have my head on straight and won't be thinking crazy thoughts about selling the Vette!

i lived in Bay Village when i worked in Cleveland....we were almost neignbors.... I would hope a new car would capture your fancy and would be disappointed if it didn't.....just sit out the fall and winter and then make up your mind....if your lose interest inthe vette in spring time then sell it.....

I have been considering geting a C5 as a daily driver, but if it handles better, has AC, is almost as fast as my C3, and is ten times more comfortable then I'm affriad I'll never want to drive the C3 again.
So my conclusion is that IF I get a C5, it will have to be a hard top, not a vert.... that'll keep my '68 special, I also decided that a bone stock 2002 Z06 would be ideal because it is super fast, looks great, isn't a convertable, and may have some resale value. Plus they get great gas mileage! Keeing the C5 stock will keep it inexpensive... upgrade are costly.
If I had a 700hp blown C5 vert in the driveway, I'd hardly ever take the C3 out.
So if you sell your C3, may you could replace it with a Convertible C3.

Sorry. Meant to put it in general forum, but didn't realize until it popped up here that I put it in the wrong place. If I could move it I would. Figured a moderator would have moved it by now...

This happened to me a decade back. I owned my Vette since 1976 (second '68). Bought a n "86 and started to hot rod it. The only way my wife puts up with my crazyness is to insist that one bay is hers in our garage. The '68 stayed in the garage and the '86 was my driver. I wanted to sell the '68 but never got around to it. Well I got rid of the '86 long ago and still have the '68. It will never be a driver again but I also don't have to worry about modifications because with QQ plates I don't have to inspect it and with the classic car shows my once outlaw hobbie/obsession is now legitament.

You'll be sorrrry!
A sad but true tale:
Many years ago and in a far distant galaxy, I had a 70 Hemi Roadrunner. I also had a Chevy P/U and 73 Trans Am, so I sold it for $2000. Recently I saw one that went for . . . .
I bought a 67 Jag XKE roadster. I also had my above listed vehicles, so I sold it for $2800. Recently I saw one that sold for . . .
But I did learn (or at least my wife did). In 86 I bought a 63 fuelie coupe that needed to be restored. I fixed it up and was planning to sell it. My wife said, "You've been kicking yourself for selling the Jag for years. Why don't you keep it?" I still have it and now a 72 LT1 air coupe as well.
The moral:
They print more money every year, but they don't make classic cars, including Vettes, anymore.
