Moral Dilemma

I had a Grand AM GT that I thought was pretty cool, for about 6 months then I never even washed it anymore. The Grand AM is long gone and I still love my Vette. Need I say more ?

you answered you own question...heck...if your heart is not in the 68, no sense keeping it...
I had the same feeling when I bought my Ferrari....the 68 sat and I drove the Ferrari, everywhere. Then, I got in a cash crunch, and without hesitation, sold the Ferrari...have not regretted that decision.

If you have 'lost the love', than sell it this spring to somone who is 'burning with desire' for your toy. Sorry to hear you've lost that lovin' feelin'. We ALL change over the years, but almost to a person, I've NEVER heard someone say" I'm sure glad I sold that old vette years ago!"

There must be something wrong with me. I can't believe you're considering selling your '68 Vette, because you have a 2005 GTO. I saw one of those new GTO's a few months ago and thought it was a new Hundai. Then I saw the 3 letters. It was like, "Oh, that's what it is". Your Vette is so cool. It's a '68 Vette. I want it and I've never seen it. EVERYONE in my town wants this car I'm driving, and it's only a red '75 coupe. Wait till it gets painted! The crossed flags and other emblems on the car make it like no other. I love these cars.
Sure a new 2005 car will drive better than your '68. But who cares. You've got a classic Corvette that will never go down in value. I'll never buy another new car for that very reason. Go trade that GTO in on a 2005 Corvette, build a new garage with lots of concrete outside, and back both of them out on the weekend. The let the envy begin!

Buy a motorcycle, then you can fit both in the garage. Er... well that's probably not what you want, but that's what I'd do. Er... actually that's what I already did.

Sell the Vette to a real Vette enthusiast. Anyone who would even ask this question, isn't a Vette man. Just thinking about this hurts my head. Who would think of a new GTO as anything but a daily driver? It doesn't look special, and they're even re-designing it already because they did such a lousy job the first time. Even Pontiac knows it looks like every other Pontiac. Now they're trying to re-introduce it with a design that looks more like a muscle car instead of the family sedan.
Sell the Vette.
Sell the Vette.

You'll miss the 'Vette after not driving it for awhile, and then when you slide into the seat after a few weeks or a few months you'll realize what you missed about it. Corvettes aren't everything to everyone though. The GTO's are really cool, but even five year old kids marvel at my 'Vette when I ride down the street. The bigger kids recognize it too.

My two cents . .
OK everyone has the right to drive and buy what they want BUT GM totally blew it on the GTO, they should have taken Fords approach and retro'd it out! Its an incredibly ugly car that side by side could be mistaken for a NEON at a glance. I tell everyone they are simply a NEON on steroids and they agree. Sure its a fast V8 but no way in hell would I ever pick a new GTO over my 68 Vert . . . unless I was given the GTO for free. Then Id sell the GTO and use the money as a down payment on a new C6. When I see a new GTO on the road sure I stare at them . . . only to wonder WHY! GM should be ashamed of themself for putting the GTO name on that car . . . its a slap in the face to GTO's gone by. Im a true GM guy so Im not bashing cause I dont like GM. Ive had 442's and Chevelles and now my first vette. To get the Vette I sold a 69 Chevelle that rode great, handled pretty good for a 35 year old car and was extremely streetable with an insane 396 that would have totally smoked that so called GTO and got ten times the looks with it. I also could have drove it anywhere that GTO went.
Sorry for bashing the new car but for gods sake man keep the Vette!

Drive the GTO. When it looses its glamour, rip out the engine to relocate into an older vette. I plan on waiting for one of these vehicles to wreck so I can use the aluminum 400 block engine and transplant to my vette or do a '65 cobra build with one.

There's nothin' like a classic
My o'l Pappy went through a lot of new fancy cars but held on dearly to his 30 year old Ford Model A Roadster. He also enjoyed the notarity the parades and the Antique Auto Club envolvement.
C3 is also a classic!
Long live the C3!

I'll keep your vette for a year, if you miss it, you can have it back, if you don't, you can just sign the title over to me. I won't mind storing (driving) it for you until you decide.
