On several occasions, when I tell someone about the recent purchase of my 75, they respond with..... "I know where you could have picked up a low mileage 89 for about that same price". .... They say this with the intent to imply that I bought an inferior Vette and could have purchased a better one. Basically, I got a raw deal.
When I try to explain to these folks that I don't particularly care for the 89 body style.... that it looks too straight, or to plain, has no character or uniqueness about it..... they stare at me like I am brain dead.
As far as I am concerned.... I like the C2 and C3's//// and a little bit of me really likes the new Z6.... But hey/// I guess to each his own.
I have two C3's, 1971 & 1979 they are my favorite style of Vette. The only other one I do like (and will own one day) is a C2 -1965/66 coupe. As far as the newer one's, I'll pass thanks.
The anti-anything C4 or newer is really getting old...seems to be all you C3 guys talk about. For a group of Corvette "enthusiasts" that dislike the C4 so much (for whatever stupid reasons), you guys sure talk about them alot.

As for the other poster.... I don't dislike C4's. They are just not my favorite body style. Honestly, I think Corvette made a big mistake with the C4 body. Corvette has always built a car that stood apart from every other car on the road, till the C4 (my opinion). With that said, I realize some people love the C4 body style, and I am sure they are a sweet ride..... I say to those folks... Enjoy your C4's.

I hear and respect what you are saying...but if you think C4s blends in too much, then you must HATE C5s, because those are the most subtle looking Corvettes there are. The C4/C5s are not suppost to look like agressive monsters like the C3s, they are supposed to look like sleek SPORTS CARS, which is what they are. Not just muscle cars like C2/C3s.
92128,
It's also a generation thing. Compare the ages of people who drive C3's to people who drive C2's. I've been told many times that 67 was the last year of the true corvette. Also about the 70, 74, and 75 vert. The C4 was way advanced for it's time when appeared in 84. Unfortunately the reliability didn't keep up with the technology. Crossfire, D36, digital dash, 4+3, opti-spark, etc. Parts are expensive, getting hard to find, and not that much fun to install.
The electronics went thru teething pains just as all the cars of the era. They are fun cars when you're 20 but when you are over 40 the ride is harsh and the door sill is just annoying. Add to it the fact that prices on C4's are constantly dropping and repair costs are thru the roof the appeal fades quickly.
Granted a 92 is faster and handles better than a mid 70's L-48 but it just doesn't have the appeal that a shark does. C5's are becoming mainstream just as other performance cars in the 2 to 5 year age range.
They are being out-performed by the C6 and prices are dropping fast. Anyone can go buy a used C4 or C5 and use it as a daily driver. Sometimes they wave, usually not.
C2's and C3's now serve a different purpose in life for most us wether you are a boomer or just nostalgic. I just can't see a C4 or C5 having that kind of attraction in the years to come.

Well said.
I also don't dislike the newer Vettes. Have even owned a few. I actually appreciate ALL things Corvette, and would consider myself an enthusiast. Actually an enthusiast of all things gas powered or otherwise for that matter.
I may be a newbie to this forum, but I think it would be unfair to judge posters here for their sarcasm toward the C4. Its all in fun. No harm no foul. Deep down Im sure everybody here would agree. I would also have to agree with the comments on styling though. I cant tell you how many actual Vette enthusiasts I've come across at shows or drive-ins, and of varying ages, that make the C4/ Camaro comments. There's as many things to poke at or like about each generation, but we are all Vette enthusiasts even if the sense of humor is biased sometimes .
