Sorry about your losses, car home and I'm sure much more. I know there is much more on your mind than your Vette. And whether or not insurance is an issue with your car, insurance usually does not cover a really special car.

good luck

Sorry to hear that. Your car was always one of my favorites on CF too. Glad to hear your family is safe.

Robert glad to see your family is safe and sorry about your loss. Question for you. Did you do anything with your car as of yet? The reason for me asking is because my first Corvette a 67'Vert went under water in a flood back in 71' caused by Tropical Storm Doria. A few days after the flood waters went down I jacked the front end up and drained the oil pan first letting out all the water. The water will come out first and then eventually the oil which will float on top of the water. I actually held a drain pan under the oil pan and moved it to the side when just water was coming out until I saw the oil starting to come out. After this I took all spark plugs out and removed the oil filter. I then hit the starter with the coil wired removed to spin the motor real quick and all water shot out of the cylinders. I then reinstalled all spark plugs, installed a new oil filter and put new oil in. In my case no water got into the gas tank so I started the car up and let it run for 10-15 minutes to heat the engine up changing the oil again after a week or so of running it. Later on after attending to my parents home I started taking the interior apart and what have you out of the car until I had bare floors. This was the only car I had at the time so I would drive the car using a plastic milk case as a seat believe it or not locally back then. Later on I took it to a shop I knew in another town unhit by the flood waters and they drilled and tapped the bottom of the M21 4spd trans and let all water and gear oil out and then installed a plug and refilled it. I purchased a suction gun for the rear end to get any water and gear oil out and refilled it. Believe it or not the flood water had no affect on the engine, trans or rear. The 327-300 engine never burned a drop of oil either. I am sure you can save your car if you spend a little time with it. The flood water shouldn't of affected your body and paint unless something rammed into it. If you can save your motor, trans and rear you are half way there and can take your time with everything else. Good luck. Fill us in with what you do if you have the time.

One good thing your C-3 like my C-2 at the time doesn't have all the computer baloney that the newer cars have so getting them going is alot easier. If I had a C-4 to C-6 go underwater I would just let the insurance adjuster take it away.

Ever seen the British show Top Gear and the pickup truck they tried (very, very hard) to kill and never could? Old cars are like that and if you have the money and time I'm sure you can bring her back. Good luck and glad you're safe.

My wife and I have heavy hearts for what you have been through. God will give you the strength to carry on when all else seems to let you down. Insurance will take care of the other stuff, or good natured people like those here on the forum.
Have faith, the rest will come.
If you need something, including a place to stay, let us know and we will help you within our meager means. Seriously!

Oh no - I really liked your car!! Hopefully, you can get your family and everything else in your life straightened out OK.

Maybe you can get the Vette fixed the way ffas23 described...
