Default Hedman Side-exit headers?

Anyone have 'em? Good/bad/ugly?

What sidepipes will bolt up to these? (my car is '74 auto w/air).

Default Hedman's 68280 are designed to hook-up with

the factory 69 Side Exhaust. That's what I have for my 383 stroker, but I plan on building my own side pipes from mandrell bends cause the stock is too restrictive.

Anybody know of where you can get 3" sisdepipes fabbed for a reasonable price?

They are UGLY. Horrible headder. I'd use stock ram horns before those pieces of junk.

The stock mufflers need to be cut and an adapter made to work with them.

427V8, what are you using for your headers and side exhaust?

I actually built my own headders and side exhaust
There are no decent cheap side ehaust headders.

But doug thorely (?) make excellent headers.

My biggest beaf with the Headmans is the unequal lengthedness make it really hard to tune the engine. My new exhaust gave me 6" more vacuum; from 9" using headman headers and stock exhaust to 15" using my headers and my exhaust.

I have a set and I've had them coated by Jet-Hot. Someone on the forum said they looked ugly. They look fine to me. They certainly look better than shorties. The collector is under the frame. They only cost $179 so they are not very expensive. It think I paid about $280 for the jet hot coating.

Yes, the quality is a little disappointing. When you lay an exhaust gasket over the flange ports, there's a little mismatch. I used a grinder to smooth things out a little.

I'm using them on a ZZ4. Even with angle plugs and a slightly higher exhaust ports on the head, the Hedman fits fine. No interference with the frame, the steering box, or the idler.

I have D port heads. I called Hedmann twice trying to talk them into making me a D port header. They refused. Bummer.

This seems to be a good deal for Stahl headers ($500) :

these are probably ok for the price, $135 is very inexpensive... the 1 5/8" primaries should work better than the huge Hooker tubes (1 7/8")

It should be easy to connect these to the Patriot or JC Whitney sidepipes

What? Spend all your money on that Viper Mr. Tanqueray? Can't afford to pay for Hookers anymore?

Oh no, I can afford the Hooker's, but that would be like gold-plating a turd. You haven't seen my Vette, have you? The nicest part are the wheels!

My Vette is definitely a low-budget project.
